walshie
I need to order some coal for the burner, but realised i have no idea which coal to get. The previous owner left a quarter of a bunker full of this stuff. It's nice and small so easy to shovel, gives out a good heat and doesn't leave much in the way of cinders, but I've no idea what it is. It seems to be round, but mostly different sizes (all small - the biggest one in the pic is the biggest in the bunker). Any ideas?

robbiep
Looks a bit like 'stoveflame' or equivalent. Check if you're in a smokeless area before buying anything though - no point in getting something you can't use !
HAYBURN
used these when I was a lad looks like coal....( briquette (or briquet) is a compressed block of coal dus )
super sharp shooter
just make sure you use coal for a multi stove burner as the open fire coal will burn out your baffles as the flames are too long..
big bad lindz
used these when I was a lad looks like coal....( briquette (or briquet) is a compressed block of coal dus ) +1. still is a briquette and may be smokeless but try it first. It will no doubt give off a little smoke especially if it is a bit damp

jloc
Mixed ovals, that's what I order from the coalman. Search for your local merchant online or in yellow pages. We Buy it loose in 50kg sacks and they will just tip into the bunker for.you. works out lot cheaper than pre packed you see at doy stores and garage forecourts. Cheers J
littlerob
Just get yourself a axe and a chainsaw the amount of wood I pay to get rid of is unreal
Passionforangling
We use a brand called Taybright in our Coalbrookdale stove. We have it delivered and tipped in the bunker in summer and burn it along with logs. The Taybright appears to give off a lot more heat than the logs so we save that generally for when it's really nippy!
