Smokersmith
This was a clear up day at the end of last year ... ignore the title ... it was on Commondale. They wanted numbers thinning, so I tried to do my bit !! Difficult to pick them up, but you can often see them bouncing in the heather https://youtu.be/qbAH4RlNIcY
JDog
Very well shot that man. The grouse were flying like August birds not November ones.
shoot and be safe
I enjoyed that Well done on the reload for the second bird (7:40ish) A pal of mine has just got back from the Highlands and regaled stories very similar. Thanks for sharing

Smokersmith
Very well shot that man. The grouse were flying like August birds not November ones. Thanks chaps .... JDog ... the first clip was in the NY Moors ... they're not so tough there .. In the Dales however I needed therapy, and only now can look at this footage again ..... I could talk about the difficult angles with birds flying down the line, or the 25mph wind ... but the truth is they were just far too good for me ... took at least a couple of drives to find them. You'll particularly enjoy the one that sidesteps me after 20 seconds or so ... even in slow-mo I'd still miss it !! The sharp eyed among you will have noted the Superfast Fibres being used !! My pal came stuffing for me, and he realised they were shifting too !! https://youtu.be/K5SWDc_4zR0 Edited November 27, 2015 by Smokersmith
JDog
The grouse in the two videos are not comparable. Easyish in the first and very very difficult in the second. You are a lucky man to have had those chances at late season grouse.
panoma1
Good vid, certainly shows the difference between early and late season driven grouse! What was the camera smoker? Go pro? Where was it mounted? Shoulder? I have been taking a few vids this year but am just experimenting so they are not brilliant!
Smokersmith
It's a GoPro mounted on the earmuffs.

Smokersmith
I might have been picking up the day you were at Caldberg, it's a lovely little moor. Fancy that! I can remember it was a friendly bunch..... What was this season like on there?
PERCE
Fancy that! I can remember it was a friendly bunch..... What was this season like on there? I didn't manage to go this year at all as their dates always clashed with commitments to other moors. Grouse have been patchy on this side of Yorkshire, some moors had very few yet neighbours had bumper years.
spinach
Great show no jealousy at all, a red letter day You certainly show how to pick and stay on it . Good enough to be instructional. Thanks John.
