Just putting the feelers out to see if we ran a Basc Patterning Day what interest it would generate.

Pattening plating is not used as much nowadays, but can produce interesting results and help with performance and lethality rates.

feedback from the PW crew appreciated

Thanks Flycoy

Thanks for the prompt interest, the idea of the day would be to use the gun and cartridges you normally use to see how they perform, shot concentration, lethality etc.

it would fill most of the day, be in the spring and would be in the central area for the first one I would think.

the idea of the post is to see if enough interest is there to lay a day on, will of course keep you up to date, once I see that its possible I will go back to HQ and get a more detailed plan of the day sorted so you can see what is what and I will get a venue that will facilitate the big bores and steel etc, will have some good info there too so will be a good day

really want to see how interested you guys are first, don't like to cancel events once arranged

Sounds like a plan.

I fancy going over to the Isle of Wight to see Old Farrier, Nigel is great company.

It may have to be a regional thing depending on the interest.

If you are interested please ensure you put down your county, and or town it will help us pull things together.

Good idea flycoy. :good:

Hi all

Thanks for the interest you have all shown in this post, can I ask those of you still keen to register your interest on the basc website, go to home page click on "events and courses" then "training courses. you will see "cant find a course in you area?" click on that and fill in boxes and select a course "shotgun patterning workshop". this will show the interest out there for the day

thanks again PW

Especially as there is going to be a cost attached, what would a person get out of this that they wouldn't by just shooting a piece of cardboard and looking at the results?

Seeing other gun's results, perhaps.

The biggest cost will be getting there, I suspect. Bound to be too far for most people, no matter where it is. Putting it on at the Shooting Show in February might attract more interest.

My loads are already where I want them , but surely it would be good to meet and shoot together and have good laugh and check out what other people do .

It may just give you some ideas to help you along.

We used to have a Big Bore shoot down this way , Sutton Bridge , and it was a great laugh .

People came from far and wide and everyone had fun and got to know each other.

A patterning day could be an anual event perhaps.

Wouldn't it be easier to just get a big bit of cardboard and shoot it instead of all this palaver?

What palaver?

It seems there are a number of people interested.

Understanding the results can help with your shooting.

No doubt a bit of gun fit will come into play.
