On a return flightline

So, I was off work today and since the weather is going to be horrendous tomorrow I decide to get out for a scout. Birds were hard to come by but I spotted a return line from goodness knows where. As we all know those birds can prove difficult to decoy, so I decided on a change of tact. In with the full choke. My plan was to intercept them crossing a low hedge. I dug myself into a very tight little hide and waited.

Storm Desmond was on his way and the birds were very challenging. A slight dip of the wing and they put another hundred yards between them and me in seconds. I doubt I shot very many that were less than 40 plus yards. It was superb.

I picked up 46. Well pleased.

Would be interesting to know what the pigeons have in there crops Dr D.

Barley.

Desmond was blowing pretty hard today, but the lure was too much. I went out and set up at 11 finished at 2.30 and picked 104. No pic. I will do a proper write up and photo tomorrow.

Came in this evening to sort the birds out and take a photo. They were all gone.

Mate had picked them up. Apparently someone wanted the lot. Anyhow, here's what happened yesterday. The wind was serious, but i fancied a hour flighting. The local shoot was on and I was pretty sure it would shift birds. But I never guessed what would happen. The birds came out along a tight line making for a small wood outside the estate. They were only a few feet of the ground heading into the full force of Desmond. It was constant twos and threes. And they just kept pitching into the twelve dead birds I had put out. I finished with 104. That's 150 on the button in 2 days. And I would like to say day 2 was skill, but it was at least 50 percent luck.

Obviously, my intended hour turned into a full session
