davids3511
I can just see Dave now with head in hands....I'm collecting the Lincoln on the 19th, didnt want to chance a turkey for sons christmas present. The guy selling it seems a decent sort and its only a year old. Unfortunately the warranty doesnt transfer but with a bit of luck it should be ok. Having said that all the opinions were great and i really appreciated everyone who took the time to reply. It seems a very friendly community my son and I are getting into. Now if you could all help me with my gun choice too that would be great. Ive used a few but my very favourite was a very well used Miroku 3800 with ejectors that actually trapped the cartridge in rather than ejecting it out. However the weight and balance seemed perfect. webber
We're based in Manchester. He's shot a 410 (i dont know what make) , a miroku 3800 12g, a silver pigeon 12g and a silver pigeon 20g in the last few months. By far he prefers the Beretta 20g but i just cant afford that. A 12g is just that bit too heavy for him right now. I use a Revo Premium Youth 20 bore for coaching youths and some ladies. I also sell the guns in my shop. You are welcome to visit Rixton & Astley Shooting Club on Sunday and try the gun that I coach with. www.astleygunclub.co.uk webber
Nmb
I bought a bettinsoli 20 bore in like new condition for just over £600 lovely gun to look at and a joy to shoot. Loved shooting early season partridge with it and have really enjoyed shooting clays with it. I have put about 500 cartridges through it and have had no issues. I have tried Lincolns in the past and thought they handled really nicely, sure it will be a great gun! blackthorn
Lincoln are a good make, got the old no 2 I moved Morgan up to a 12 because she could cope with the weight plus cheeper on my pocket She plays netball, 2 nights a week martial arts and now my ferreting partner. At home we have to sit on her to keep her still

steadyeddy
AYA 20 Bore No 3. Loads about. Really lightweight. Absolutely terrific guns! If he can break them with that he won't struggle to hit when he's strong enough for a 12 bore O/U sporter. And by then he might not want an O/U! davids3511
It looks like the lincoln is going to fall through. Ive seen a Franchai harrier delux 12 bore witb 26" barrels that looks tidy and is within budget. The shorter barrels should reduce the weight a bit but will it cause problems with sporting clays? Plenty of Franchis etc to play with.

davids3511
Ok, just to update everyone, and I'm sure I could have done better but I did the best with what I knew. I've gone for a 12g Franchi Alcione one for myself and a 12g Franchi Harrier delux 26" for my lad. Everyone saying he could handle a 12g were right, I was underestimating him. He put 100 shots though it today with no problems. I think the shorter barrels helps him out a bit with a lower weight. He loves his new gun and did better than me today. For a while I though my new gun wasn't shooting straight. Had a bit of a worry on his first two shots, the second barrel wouldn't fire but I remembered reading on here that if the gun wasn't held tight enough to the shoulder this could happen. I told him to hold it tight and it didn't happen again so sigh of relief. The only problem now is that he wants to go again tomorrow. Expensive hobby this. Thanks to everyone who offered an opinion, it helped me work through the options and was very much appreciated.
