sako751sg
Blowing an absolute gale here today and had made sure id the last day of the game off so set out for a wee gig on the doos. Plan was to finish at 1400 and then have a couple of hours to try for a pheasant or two. Conditions were horrendous and the birds were probably the most testing ive been in among and the second shots were nearly always a total waste but i didnt learn. By 1400 i was sitting on 46 so with the rain coming down i took a pic and started tidying up but birds were still streaming over so stayed to make the 50 and hit the half ton at bang on 1427. Great sport and bought a slab of Caledonia 32g Long Reach which seems a top squeab at longer ranges. Ended the afternoon with 2 hours walking but only dropped one cock although did miss some relatively easy partridges and a very easy cock. Great end to the season and roll on the bucks. Edited to say total cartridges for the 50 was 114. Edited February 1, 2016 by sako751sg
JDog
Somehow it never really matters how many cartridges are used if the sport is as extreme as that. Pigeons round here have been battered by the wind of late that they are sitting out on the ploughing.

They usually come in to land in the trees but with the wind they would have struggled.

Paul taylor
Great result that without a doubt. I've spent all my life detesting windy weather as it basically ruins anything I like doing but even I must admit when you have a shotgun in your hands it doesn't half make it fun.
