Gin steady shooter
As above thinking about a blaser f3, prob s hand if poss. Will be used occasionally for game and limited clays. Not my main gun, but just another to add to the collection. Quite fancy a long barrle heavy ish o/u. Got light ish 20b sxs for walk about needs. Has anyone used them in the field? How do they preform. I notice a number of different models around but any to avoid for game use (other than obvious weight considerations) Or am I better waiting to get their newer f16 version for my purposes. Thanks in advance Ewen
dodeer
Very nice for game. I used a 29" game version and a 32" sporter and shot well with both.
winnie&bezza
I really fancy a Blaser at the moment. The profile of the gun for me just looks so pointable and I can imagine shooting well with one.
Smokersmith
Had one (F3 32" sporter) for a couple of years, wish I had it now really. Very pointable on clays and very effective on game. You won't go wrong with one.
Gin steady shooter
I hear the very early ones had issues with sticky levers and also easy to stain actions. Am I right and thinking these are the silver action ones? Does the vintage go something like this; Silver action 2003 - 2005 Bronze / grey action -2005 - Black action - - to date. Thanks? Whitebridges
Not a fan to be honest. Shot a few but the trigger on the one I shot at Blenheim was crud.Sloppy and creepy. Each to their own though. Edited March 3, 2016 by Whitebridges
CharlesP
The one I bought last week has exceptionally good trigger pulls. No creep. No slop. Very good. The top lever is just the way it should be. The F3 is a significantly better gun than the F16, but the F16 is pretty good.

Gin steady shooter
Charles- was ur a black action / new or a sliver action s hand gun?
Mr. Merkel
I have a early Blaser F3 game model with 29" barrels, I use it for most of my shooting including clays. In 7 years I have not had any issues other than 3 light strikes on a batch of old trophy cartridges I used, mine does not get heavy use about 300 shells per month. All the best. johnnytheboy
You should wait and look at the f16 blaser, it's really nice gun
CharlesP
Mine is a new black action. It's a sporter. I'm lovin' it.
Smokersmith
I had a silver action early model ... hearing about the issues, I took it back and it was fitted with modified parts and the action was re-coated ... FOC Never had any issues, and I believe that many guns had this retrofit.
Gin steady shooter
Smokersmith- yes I have read that. What im wondering is if this retro fitting by manufacturers is time limited? I.e if I do get one effected can it still be rectified and for free??
CharlesP
May I suggest that a conversation with Ian Mulliner may be a good move. He is Blaser's main man for warranty matters, he's been trained at the factory in Germany, and he is a Blaser (among others) dealer. He will be able to tell you if these updates are part of a transferrable warranty pragramme, if not how much it might cost, and generally answer your questions. He is the chap I bought mine from and he is very helpful as well as knowledgeable. He can also tell you about the F16 and when it may be available. He is near Wimborne in Dorset, and he's on 01258 840 848. I see from his home page that he's closed until Tuesday. In any event a service wouldn't be a bad idea if you're buying an older example. There have been a number of threads over the years about minor issues cropping up with these guns, and as they carry a ten year warranty I wouldn't be surprised if the original owners have had the work done. Gin steady shooter
Thanks for the info
SO3isme
Support from the factory was excellent when I had that early issue with mine. I would probably be shooting one of the later ones if I thought it would make me shoot better. 'Learn't that lesson a while back :-)
figgy
Mungler on here has a Blaser and loves his. The Luxus game side plate is a stunning gun.
winnie&bezza
As much as I want one I still don't think the standard models look traditional on a game shoot but shoot me down if I'm wrong.
Gin steady shooter
Yes the luxus model is very handsome but also very pricy. I know what u meant about the std model and traditional looks, it's a bit agriculture in its appearance. But this simple estetics masking a technological advance gun is one of the attractions for me. I have a heavily engraved sxs for the really posh shoots anyhow.
winnie&bezza
I know what to mean about the simple looks of it. I would much prefer a plain black/satin action over grade 1 engraving on other makes.
