Dirty Harry
Is that so. What are the issues? We had a good long chat with a chap that had three entered in the BASC 'gundog team' show and one of them entered in the main breed show. His dogs pick up, doing 50 plus days. http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/media/16446/flatcoated%20retriever.pdf 54% of the breed die of cancer and only 8.9% of old age. Heart problems also common. 12gauge82
I have had a number of GSDs in the past and watching that footage upset me. An awful example of the breed.+1 the problem is there are people out there who care far more about the dogs appearance than there health. This is why I won't even watch crufts on TV anymore. lurchers
Who ever bred the dog want putting in a stock and flogging same as the judge,so they have showed that dog at kc show before showing themselves up on TV how numb they are.that dog should of been put down from a few weeks old as you could of noticed the problem then.i hope they get a life time ban from keeping animals as that's an embarrassment and shows they shouldn't be keeping dogs. Konnie
I would say a large number of pure breed dogs of all breeds die of some form of cancer, if the money is spent to find out.
pinfireman
Totally agree with the above but think the problem with lightly built labs lies firmly with the field trial fraternity and their desire for speed and style. They have got to be better than the fat, sluggish stuff that parades around the show ring..............and for the record , my wife is a show judge, gave it up because of what is happening to certain breeds, and the corruption between some breeders and some judges! pinfireman
What the hell is a cockerpoo? A labradoodle? And as for a Shizpoo...or is that cock****z? And lunatics are paying stupid money for these crossbreeds.......Many bred by "travellers" in puppy farms in disgusting conditions! And now they want them to be given breed status, so they can be shown! Usually, when you cross breed, you get the worst of the two breeds involved, rarely the best! Hendrix's rifle
Personal protection from what? Mainly for the other half. There are a lot of scrotes knocking around my area at the minute and he has done his job many times without biting. Just barking. He will stop intruders or people trying to have a pop. You come over my back gate I feel truly sorry for you how ever it would be your own fault :L I made the mistake of trying to jump the fence when I forgot my key after new years eve, the gate it about 7ft tall, he was stood on the other side trying to grab me until he realised who I was. secretagentmole
They don't which is why they are investigating how it got into the ring. Believe it or not but the KC do some good when helped by the breed societies. My breed you now have to have certain tests done before you can register a litter, makes sense when you are trying to eliminate certain diseases. Let's give you a clue! Regional show for CC (Challenge Certificate) - 1 Judge. Crufts show - Class round for best in class - 1 Judge. Crufts Show - Best in Breed - 1 Judge. That's 3 judges that think that the Charles Laughton abomination of a dog is healthy! Three judges, probably from different regions of the country, they are now talking of removing German Shepherds from Crufts after that dog won Best of Breed! pontbeck
Just to be perfectly correct :- 1 judge from a qualifying championship show 1 judge at Crufts who gave it it's class, then best of breed 2 judges, then the endorsement from the Vet that it was a healthy specimen of the breed The Kennel club shoots itself in the foot again

Hall! So I concede 2 judges in this case! Edited March 16, 2016 by secretagentmole
pontbeck
I was talking in this circumstance . The entry at Crufts was between 120 and 130 dogs, you only have 2 judges if the entry is over 250, then you have a judge for each sex with the best of breed being a joint decision . If the judges can't agree then a referee is brought in to decide, so the class judge also judges best of breed. secretagentmole
Either way that perch backed dog should never have been given one CC!
crowdie2013
the guy who had the Gordon setter is as likely to be seen on a shoot as I would be bending pippa middleton over the bonnet of her range rover and giving her both barrels. I had nothing against the dog but the way he minced around the ring was too much. My wife asked if us gundog owners did that in the beating line!
