walshie
Just got my variation back for S1 shotgun. Is the fact it's listed on my FAC rather than my SGC all it takes to buy and use a section 1? In the "Firearms authorised to be purchased or acquired" box it simply says 12 Bore Shot Gun 1. Seems very basic, but then I don't really know what I was expecting. There is a separate condition for it that reads: It seems nice and brief and to the point, but in these days when they like to try to micro-manage every aspect of your ticket, this seems almost too simple. robbiep
Yup. It's actually in the police firearms handbook that for S.1 shotguns specifically that there should be no land restrictions.
Rimfireboy
On that, you can go and buy any section 1 shotgun you fancy so long as it's "12 bore" gauge. pump, semi auto or short barrelled in any other action. Enjoy...

A.J.P.
Erm ... 24 inch minimum barrel, no matter what action. The 24" minimum barrel length and 40" OAL restriction on Section 1 shotguns only applies to pump and semi-automatic actions. SxS, O/U, bolt actions and lever actions are governed by the 12" minimum barrel, 24" OAL specification common with other Section 1 firearms. Edited March 10, 2016 by A.J.P. CharlieT
Walshie, You may wish to request, if it's not on your FAC, that a "clay pigeon" shooting condition condition be added to your FAC, just incase you ever fancy using it for such. Automatic Condition for Section 1 Shotguns for Clay Pigeon Shooting (once “good reason” for possession has been demonstrated) • The *calibre SMOOTH-BORE GUN may also be used for CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING. srspower
My Winchester sxp 10 plus 1 is down for vermin, clays and target shooting no land restrictions. However I assume slugs are still target only, is that right?

However, if your "good reason" was for deer then thats what they would ge conditioned for. As an example, mine says......."The 12 bore slugs shall be used for the shooting of deer". srspower
I don't think it says what they are for they are just listed as ammo only my guns have the reason next to them. If I remember right. I didn't know you could use slugs on deer?!

If I remember right. I didn't know you could use slugs on deer?!Never knew slugs could be used on deer either!!Know the Firearms Act quite well. Only mention of shotguns & deer is shooting by landowners if the deer are causing damage.... & that they're to be shot with buckshot ammunition. Not against slug....use them myself....just always keen to err on the side of caution! ETA The clay condition is NOT discretionary....it's MUST BE ADDED condition for S1 target/vermin shotguns. saddler
You got yours added yet? Not yet but it's hopefully being done/added shortly as had my renewal visit last week....I let the FEO go after 2 1/2 hours Still no official reply to my formal complaint to them about it being missed off - plus some of the "new & lesser known facts" that a previous FEO had made up about the Home Office Guidance, etc.
