Salop Matt
I hope its okay me putting in this post of praise up as I have genuinely received such good service I feel its only right to publicly praise the good service and product here. For a while now I have been a glasses wearer and need them to see at distance which is has been an issue for me when shooting. For my clay shooting I was struggling along with my day to day prescription glasses and making do, which wasn't ideal. I also can not justify the cost of the likes of Pilla glasses and the fees charged by some "sports opticians" for there consultation that goes along with the fancy glasses. So I looked for an alternative and found some glasses on-line which had an insert frame that you get glazed and just clip in and away you go......and a heck of a lot CHEAPER. So I was at the shooting show last month when I saw a stand selling these glasses that I have purchased in the same style of an insert to the frame that you get glazed with your prescription. The Stand was: Sunglasses For Sport from Basingstoke Hampshire and I dealt with Mr Denzil Lee who was very helpful and let me try on these glasses. I purchased the set for a grand total of £50. The glasses come in a firm protective case and inside you find:1 x Frame1 x Lens holder / insert4 x coloured lenses ( Sunshade black, pink, yellow & dark orange/brown)1 x cleaning cloth1 x soft carry bag Well I was due an eye sight test and will now only use a local optician by the name of: Martin Haynes ( Haynes opticians of Shrewsbury Shropshire). Armed with my new eye test results that I was very happy with (what with this being my second year on the trot I have returned), I set off up Shrewsbury high street to visit Kevin & Angela at: Specs Clinc ( https://specsclinic.co.uk/index.php ). Now I first used Kevin`s services at the Specs Clinic last year and have been really pleased with the quality of his product and service that he and Angela provide. So once I was sorted with my new prescription glasses for my every day use I produced these new shooting glasses desperately hoping that Kevin could sort me out with the glazing of them, I was over the moon when Kevin smiled and said "easy". So I opted for a good shock resistant material for the lenses and also an anti-glare coating. I nervously waited the 10 working days for the call from Angela to say all was done, I got this call on the Thursday and couldn't wait until last Saturday to head back over to collect both pairs of my glasses.Well bellow are some pictures of the glasses and boy am I happy, I am really looking forward to testing these out as previously, sunglasses for shooting were out of the question as two pairs on at the same time just doesn't work so I struggled, now how ever I have now excuses for not seeing those pesky clays. Now Kevin is not a shooter or really familiar with the shooting sports, but he happily took on the task and delivered excellent results. When I went to collect the glasses we sat at the front of the shop comparing the lenses and it was impressive how the different coloured lenses really made red`s/oranges stand out as if they were high lighted. So am looking forward to using these glasses in different light and surrounding environments with different coloured clays. I know from speaking to Kevin he was really interested in the glasses for shooting and what I perceived to be a big gap in the market for decent shooting glasses especially for those requiring a prescription but don`t have hundreds and thousands of pounds to spend, I recently herd of one shooter buying Pilla glasses with a consultation fee also that came out at well over £1k So here is the proof that you don`t have to spend monster money to get a good working quality product for your shooting. If you have any requirements or questions please feel free to ask me or call Kevin and Angela at the Specs Clinc. Bear in mind that they are only 15 mile from West Midlands Shooting Ground at Hodnet. May be some thing to check out if your in the area for the PW Charity shoot also. Please excuse the bad photos, but here are some of the glasses and set. Catamong
I too think that a lot of shooting glasses are way over-priced. I bought a set of non-prescription sunglasses from this Company, (Sunglasses for Sport), a couple of months ago, the quality of their products is very good, the glasses were not expensive considering the quality, and the service was excellent. I ordered them on the Tuesday, they arrived, (expertly packaged), on the Thursday...top marks..! I would certainly recommend them without hesitation. Cat. bakerboy
I have used an optician in Stevenage who understands Shooting, my prescription was put into clip in glasses as above at a very reasonable price , the interesting bit for me was that he raised the point of vision. normally at the centre of the lens, higher, so when the head goes down on the stock I am looking through the lens at the correct angle, a little like Dennis Taylor (Snooker player) swivel glasses. It made a big difference. Motorcyclists and Cyclists have a similar requirement, head down eyes up.

Hamster
I have used an optician in Stevenage who understands Shooting, my prescription was put into clip in glasses as above at a very reasonable price , the interesting bit for me was that he raised the point of vision. normally at the centre of the lens, higher, so when the head goes down on the stock I am looking through the lens at the correct angle, a little like Dennis Taylor (Snooker player) swivel glasses. It made a big difference. Motorcyclists and Cyclists have a similar requirement, head down eyes up. This is one of the key features of dedicated shooting glasses although admittedly I do see some very good shooters who appear able to use regular dimension specs, this must somehow be related to the specific shape and relationship of their heads to the mounting pose. I have long said there is a dire gap in the market for a sub £200 (maybe even sub £150) shooting glasses that satisfy a few basic criteria including high quality lens and clarity. I have owned both Hydef and Pilla ones and will only say their ludicrous rip off price aside, they do have exceptional clarity, something that I personally have not come across in £50 sets and I've owned a fair few over the years. I started needing reading glasses about 6-7 years ago now but back when my vision was more acute I recall finding less clear lenses to be less of a burden and could even occasionally shoot with £1 a throw safety glasses, their poor design notwithstanding. In my experience the point at which you can expect truly excellent clarity with ordinary designer shades is anything from £120 upwards so it is absolutely a doable thing with shooting ware. Tomo-1
I think these http://www.rapideyewear.co.uk/product.php/101/pro-performance-plus-polarised-rx-prescription-shooting-sunglasses are the same?
Lord Geordie
While I don't need corrective glasses! "in steps Hawkeye" I found the polycarbonate biking glasses from Aldi are perfect for shooting, at a fraction of the cost! Interchangeable lens' comfortable frames, and iirc they cost me £5. Come in a zip up case, with a cleaning cloth and lens'
fitzy
I've recently purchased a couple of pairs of Pyramex Rendezvous glasses after being recommended to me. They performed exceedingly well in independent tests exceeding much more expensive brands and are remarkably cheap on Amazon. The angle of the lens is adjustable. "Crafted from high grade polycarbonate, machined from virgin materials and formed to shape. Lens/frame design allows air to flow freely up and away from lens to prevent fogging. Align the angle of the lens to the proper position for your work application with ratcheting lens pitch adjustment. Temples adjust to four different lengths. Adjustable nose pad conforms to a broad range of bridge sizes. Clip and tension mounted 9.5 base curved lens eliminates screws or rivets for quick and easy lens replacement. Provides 99% UV protection. Exceeds ANSI Z87.1-2010- 2003 High Impact requirements."

ChrisAsh
Just really check they are made as safety glasses as chunks of clays are really moving and sharp when they hit, cheap plastic sunglasses may not protect you or allow a side impact get through. I use topgunclothing.co.uk specs with inserts at about £30.00 fit the bill ok for me and when the plastic frame on the inner lens broke after about two years they sent me a free replacement
Salop Matt
To be doubly safe Kevin at Spec`s Clinic made my perscription lenses from safety glass material so I have two layers of protection
deershooter
I know they were overpriced but I will stick with my pillar glasses ,they are so clear you would think they were prescription lenses ,I can shoot much better with them than without them Deershooter
brett1985
I couldn't afford pilla's last year, but needed some glasses to shoot at a certain ground I was intending to visit. fortunately, I don't need a prescription yet so my choice's were good. I finally settled on some of the beretta 'race' glasses. ordered from the estore, arrived within 24 hours. optical clarity is actually pretty good (good enough for me anyway) and there is no noticeable image warping. the top of the lens is high above the eye line, so they're great for shooting trap. I bought 3 pairs for about £50 delivered. I must admit though, I would still like some pilla's...
