Surprised you don't give ABT a bash .... sits in the middle of your other passions and more opportunities to shoot it around ... There's at least 4 of us going from South Lincs tomorrow ... Enjoy the X .... when you love a new gun, and get it shooting where you're looking it can have a really positive effect on your scores. I don't like ABT as I think its an unfair discipline , that's why I like UT , EVERYONE gets the same birds , in ABT you can have loads of screaming lefts and rights and the chap next to you gets all straight birds haha , in UT that don't happen , and the other thing steve they have now bought the angles right in which personally I think it has spoilt it a little bit . Haha your be fine norm of that i have no doubt mate . Not sure about the dtl at notts next week . I would like a couple of weeks to get my head into the hi rib . Had a bash with it today and was butchering the clays . Also see one of the benifits of the hi rib today . As the wind picked up it was pulling the clays down really sharply . My sight picture was so clear and unclutterd i could just drop the gun down a tad and dust it . Very impressed with the kills .
Wilts#Dave
Ugly thing in the conventional sense but if that's what it takes to have the edge in competition then it's worth it!! How much of an effect does using a dedicated high rib trap gun tend to have on your scores, reading on here before you weren't exactly struggling so I'm guessing there won't be many missed now!! I've only ever had the odd go at DTL after having a round of sporting but never got the hang of it really, can see how satisfying it must be banging in high scores and dusting them though! brett1985
Well, i really like it stevo! Always had a bit of a thing for high rib guns, hence buying the ProTrap. Do you find it more comfortable shooting in a more head up position?

I've only ever had the odd go at DTL after having a round of sporting but never got the hang of it really, can see how satisfying it must be banging in high scores and dusting them though! Dave , I have been out with it today and had a proper go with it after spending an hr last night on the pattern plate , its now shooting and set up just how I want it , and to suit my style of shooting , this afternoon I have shot 250 clays ( DTL ) and missed a total of 2 targets and 3 second barrels , 99% of everything thrown out of the clay trap I turned it inside out , so very very happy with it . will be having next weekend practicing and then I will be back out on the comp circuit with it . as for the hi rib ................... and obviously this is just my view on them and what they mean to me , 1, I like to shoot head up , it feels so much more natural , 2. I can keep my eye on the target at all times , if its a windy day , the clays have a tendency to be pulled down just fast as they rise , which if they drop too much the action tends to block the bird out ...... bang ! your shoot over the top of it , ( if you cant see it you cant shoot it ) 3, you don't barrel watch as there not in your vision so to speak , if your eyes drop down to the barrels you end up ( in my case ) with a dead gun . as you stop moving . 4. once your hi rib gun is set up right , your head does not move , so many birds can be just simply missed by the shooter lifting there head as they pull the trigger , so when you head is more or less upright , it has no where else for it to go , so for me all of the above lead to more consistent scores and shooting style . hi ribs are not for everyone , at the end of the day its the results that count , and just ONE clay can be the difference between winning of losing haha , hope that makes sense dave , I'm not the best at explaining stuff atb Well, i really like it stevo! Always had a bit of a thing for high rib guns, hence buying the ProTrap. Do you find it more comfortable shooting in a more head up position? cheers brett , yes mate I love it !! brett1985
Stevo , Brett------ get a room I doubt there's a room big enough for the amount of high-rib-lovin' that would be going on... plus, pretty sure we're probably both skint after paying for these beautiful guns of ours... unless your offering to foot the bill?
