oowee
I have a restricted ticket and I have to fill in a 686 form to get the land checked. Even if its cleared I have to get the form in so that they can add it to the list of my approved places. Its probably easier to persevere with the calls but might be worth sending one in anyway/ If you have an open ticket its up to you.
walshie
Keep trying to get hold of them on the phone. Once you get through to them it takes seconds to look it up. Bear in mind the previous shooter might have had an open ticket and the land isn't cleared at all.
Sou'Wester
Dyfed-Powys refuse to hand out land clearance details to closed ticket holders and insist on a doc 4. Been the source of much frustration previously. Might not be everyone's experience mind and it definately varies between forces. Devon and Cornwall never had a problem. Wouldn't rely on the fact that the previous shooter used a rifle=land cleared.

Foxwit
I must by lucky in Wiltshire as my FEO is great at getting new land added to my ticket. I've had two new perms added since I got my ticket two years ago. I sent an email and he came a walked both and it was added to my file within a week or so of me asking. Good shot?
In the past when on a closed cert I have simply emailed details of land etc to feo, asked what calibre land is passed for if at all, and got a reply back within a day.(Merseyside and East Cheshire departments on different occasions.) spandit
Pester your FEO enough times with different pieces of land and they'll probably be grateful to open your licence up - have you asked?
deershooter
Don't understand why it has to be added to your ticket 25 years ago on my first ticket it said you can shoot on land approved by the chief officer of police ,didn't say where . I had only one piece of land listed on my certificate

I had only one piece of land listed on my certificate That's how it is now. My son has a closed ticket right now and the wording is the same as mine except for the "deemed suitable by chief officer of police". Logically then if land is cleared and you have permission, you're good to go - however much the firearms teams like to micro-manage.
