Cannon
Does anyone do it as a job or hobby? I've always wanted to learn how to do it. Not for unscrupulous reasons, but moreso out of wanting to expand my personal skillset. What would be a good starter kit to use? I wouldn't mind paying for a decent set, as some of the bits in the cheaper sets appear to break quite easily. Also where's a good place to order a lock pick set online? There doesn't appear to be a great selection in the uk. Thanks in advance

oowee
I had to open a brass padlock and watched a Youtube video to open it with a coke can. It worked.
Shotguneddy
I used to try it all the time on different locks, but for some reason the police kept turning up
Wb123
Ive bumped by way into a few places, all where rooms have the same locks and a high cut key is handy.
Jaymo
I do it for 'fun' Started out many many years ago when my parents were away and I accidently locked myself out. As above- Chris Dangerfield from UKbumpkeys supplies all my 'toys' It's great fun playing with 'cutaway' cylinders to really get a good understanding. In the past I have tried picks n rakes followed by bump keys - now I have an electric 'Klom' :-) it's magical..... YouTube gives some great info vids and guides on pins, shear lunes and anti pick pins etc Good luck and have fun Oh, forgot Get a little vice for holding the practice locks as then you can maintain tension far easier
four-wheel-drive
Something that I have always wanted to be able to do but never got around to another one of those skills that will not be needed soon as electronics takes over and I am afraid that goes over my head. rodp
Once did about 20 cars outside a garage as a challenge (owner was there), only one I couldn't open with no damage (left it)

These were all makes, think the one that wouldn't open was a Renault.
digger
Ive done dozens of forced entries where the tenant / client has been locked out. Only been stumped by one lock in all of those. Called out a mate who is a locksmith and he was in within three minutes. Had a picking set bought on line and self taught.

Shouldn't be too long before I'm up and running Post up how you get on. I can easily pick a lock while watching the pins, but can't at all if I'm not.
