Royboy
My lab has been acting strange around his back end for the last couple of days and his tail looks strange. He's also not been wagging it as much. A quick search and I think he's got this limber tail thats prone more to labs and swimming in cold water the poor lad ! Is this likely to be a common accurance ??
Dirty Harry
My GWP had it in the summer following a working test. It was held down and he didn't move it. If you touched it it was painful. After a week it was almost back to normal.
Royboy
Yeah mine seems fine now but you could tell he was in pain with it. Just hope it's not a common accurance
Dirty Harry
Well my dog is 2 and a bit and he's only had it once and he's always in the water.

Fal
My lab had this about 2 years ago. I sent him in for a duck in the freezing cold water and it wasn't right for days. Then one day. perfectly fine! He hasn't had it since, in two years! Strange one!
JDog
One of my Labs had it on two occasions. The first time I was really worried but after a few days the tail got back to normal much to my relief. The second time I worried less. Both times he had been swimming. Royboy
Yeah exactly the same, I've been reading that heat bags can help so if it happens again I'll try that 👍
shoot and be safe
My lab has had it a few times now, she got over it after a few days and it didn't seam to bother her at all. She was still running about like a something possessed when we took her out with a ball. She even jumped in to the small river for a swim. The only common denominator for the times she has suffered, was she had been out shooting with me on the walk one stand one syndicate I was on, she probably wagged her tail nonstop all day. That's probably going to happen this weekend, I've been invited to a walk one stand one day on Saturday so his tail is going to be going wild ! fortune
What is it then? sort of strained muscles ? There's nothing worse than a dog with a frozen rudder, or a soggy bottom.

Yeah they recon it's like a strain in the tail, pain in the bum !
fortune
My Spaniel didn't get where it is today by having strained rudder. Good job that it's tail is docked because it would nearly catch fire the speed that it wags its tail.

It's probably the real reason there docked ha
Penelope
The wet and cold is the cause I believe, also known as broken tail.
Dirty Harry
My dog got it on a warm day and the water he'd been in was also quite warm!
shoot and be safe
It's inflammation between the joints in the tail caused by cold shock or excessive wagging of the tail, so I was told.
greenshank1
My lab has had it a few times and it clears after a few days. She has had it after swimming in winter storms with really cold and rough waves on the shore and in the summer flat calm , swimming for a few hours playing , but the water is still pretty cool even on our hottest days. I think it's a combination of cold , wagging and using it as rudder swimming aid.
NorfolkAYA
My springerdor had the same, pain killers and in a few days was back to normal 👍
