Silent Shooting X 6

DB is away for the half term holiday so I set out after helping the wife with the horse on Friday. I found two flocks that I would have set up for but was unable due to both farms holding game shoots on Saturday. I covered seventy miles and only found those two so I'd resigned myself to go fishing on Saturday for Zander in the river Avon. As I was moping around at home I had a call at 17.30 from a farmer informing me that he 1500 crows on his wheat so I told him I will be shooting tomorrow. I managed to find seven decoys in the freezer and left them out to defrost.

Saturday morning I was out driving to the farm in thick fog and drizzle and when I arrived at the farm not a bird on the field. I set out my decoys and hide on the understanding that this farm is next to a government establishment with three massive woods that hold roosts for corvids and pigeon but due to the sensitivity of the establishment they do not allow shooting. So I knew that the birds would pass this way today. I was all set up for 11.00 just intime for the nice Polish lady to come jogging passed me five times as she lapped the field, I had to check my Fitbit for my heart rate every time, Then the young girl with the pony who I had to lead passed my hide as he would not pass it and finally the two dog walkers who looked at my decoys and missed my hide till I spoke and they jumped out of there skins and the dogs tried to pinch my decoys. By 13.00 I'd had thirty birds and it went very slow , the fog had lifted but it was still a very fine drizzle but the air was very still and the slightest movement in the hide spooked the birds. I enjoyed the Hushpower but it was frustrating when you would down a high crosser with a single shot and then pop three at a slow hoverer in the decoys and down it with the last shot. Between 16.30 and 17.30 I had another thirty odd birds as they went to roost . I text the farmer with a picture and he said that he thought I'd left the farm as he had not heared me shooting but was pleased with the result. So the fishing will have to wait. Ionly hope that I do not have to wait three hours for seven birds again.

It must have been the weather system we had over the country or something similar as I saw very few birds on the wing today.

You did well with those corvids and I expect that you are brushing up on your Polish for the next time the jogger passes by.

Her English was excellent with a provocative accent and her Lycra was very revealing, I just wonder what she made of this bubbling idiot in the hide in which she could only see my face!!!!!
