old'un
I know how you feel when you get something and its not what you expected but I don't think small scratches will effect the vision and looking at the cost of these scopes (don't know what you paid) is it worth asking the seller for a reduction? Lloyd90
I know how you feel when you get something and its not what you expected but I don't think small scratches will effect the vision and looking at the cost of these scopes (don't know what you paid) is it worth asking the seller for a reduction?Considering this. Paid £365 for a scope I've been quoted should be around £350-400. No idea what would be a fair reduction. Wb123
Not perfect but unless a functional issue I'm not sure it would bother me.
Lloyd90
Not perfect but unless a functional issue I'm not sure it would bother me. I think it bothers me more since they claimed they were perfect.clearly they are not. Also at a glance I noticed them, so how could the fella have missed them ? Seems a bit deceitful to me
Chris Bb
£365 is a lot of money, for that sort of price I'd want perfect especially as it appears that there is no great reduction being offered over market value as stated (£350 - £400). If it still "works" OK then what it's worth is very subjective but you should still go for a (substantial) reduction as the item was offered as perfect. la bala
Hard to take photos but would you describe this as perfect ? Looks like the lense may have been cleaned with a gritty rag.

B25Modelman
Unless you quickly provide photographic evidence to the seller you may struggle. If it functions, which I should think it would, then try to agree a small reduction in price.
Lloyd90
The seller has stated to send it back and he will give full refund, fair play. Do I need to raise a PayPal dispute? Or just send it back all recorded ? Thank you for advice Lloyd PS- if I was to consider a reduced price what do you think would be fair ? I'm not out to have the seller over. Edited November 5, 2016 by Lloyd90
Glenlivet
Only raise a dispute if a refund doesn't materialise. And make sure you send it recorded before 1pm delivery which provides enough insurance.

I am considering whether to propose this to the seller.

39TDS
In my opinion, which you asked for by posting on here rather than speaking to the seller first, is that the buyer should take it back and not offer you the chance to buy it at all. This should have been dealt with in private first and only made public if the seller didn't resolve things to your satisfaction. (I have no idea who the seller is, I haven't looked)
teddy boy
just in the process of returning an item which was not as described. in all the years and transactions done via pay pal, only ever had to do this once before. you can rest assured pay will actively work to recover your money. just be a little patient. (I have no idea who the seller is, I haven't looked) That's fine and I don't begrudge you saying. The reason I asked was because the scratches did not effect the view and wondered if others would agree with me that the ad was wrongly advertised. That's the whole point of the forum, asking for advice/others opinions.

Lloyd90
Thank you for taking it as it was meant. No problem. For the record the seller so far had been very upstanding and decent. The only reason I asked before hand was because I genuinely didn't know what to do. Not to slate anyone.
old'un
Well I guess its all down to you, what is it worth? do you like the scope? I know you are disappointed about the lens but if you want to keep it ask the seller if he will give you a reduction, worth asking.

Can he get a bigger refund if he can't hit anything? Fair play to the seller, I sold a scope on her for a friend, he told me it was perfect with no marks, I didn't check it, The buyer quite rightly told me it had ring marks on it, I offered him a full refund which he took and returned the scope, To be honest I was embarrassed, the marks were quite severe When I pointed this out to my mate he said he didn't think they mattered as they didn't affect the performance...... As long as everyone is happy that's all that matters
