figgy
The lead will stick to the copper, think its the reason stainless steel bolts are so popular.
Simuk
hi all thinking of making my own lead shot has anyone used mig tips instead of bolts would appreciate the pros and cons of using the cheaper option. Hi I'm in the same boat as you, from all the research iv'e done drilled bolts appear to be the way to do it. Also apparently atmospheric temperature can play a part so try to make the shot somewhere that you can control the temperature. At least that is my plan. Probably best to try and buy an already drilled set of drippers unless you have the tools handy. There is one or two people on this forum with the capability to make some if you look. snow white
The hole is to big you would end up making mini cannon balls
sitsinhedges
Shotmaking is a thing to be done on a hot still summers day, not in the middle of winter.
rovercoupe
If you want to do it on the cheap buy a milk pan, drill a 0.6mm hole in the botton of the side and put a wood ramp into a bowl of hot water. Job done.....kind of!
snarepeg
Went of the bolt type droppers. Drilled direct through bottom of pan, welded drop plate behind at about 45degrese and it dropped fine, These were home made pans about 16 guage.
