ips
My cpsa will soon expire and I may not renew so which one to join is the question. Re-insurance. Neither seem to cover me for beating or loading ?? Any views on either basc or Ngo good or bad.
BrowningB525
What about the National Organisation of Beaters and Pickers Up? http://www.nobs.org.uk/
David BASC
Go for the one that fits you best. BASC insurance covers your beating, picking up, laoding etc as well as shooting, gundowg work etc David
ips
Go for the one that fits you best. BASC insurance covers your beating, picking up, laoding etc as well as shooting, gundowg work etc David Reading the policy it suggests that if you are being paid then it isn't classed as recreation and not covered, unless I have read it wrong

Is it full or part time employment? How many days do you work? When we have that information it is easier to work out what cover you require and who is best to cover you. ips
Paid as a beater about ten days paid as a loader about six days (both by the estate and pay recorded on there books) part time, obviously.
anser2
Insurance should be the last thing on your mind when joining a shooting organisation. Pick the one meets your interest , needs and which one is going to fight for your sport. And then its time to think about insurance as they all offer a similar product or even get your own insurance. David BASC
The policy excludes commercial activities that's true, but being paid a few quid for picking up or beating does not class as commercial. If you are earning over £3500 a year let me know if its under that, crack on! Edited March 9, 2017 by David BASC

HAYBURN
Sorry if this has been posted before. Alfie Oldring started his day looking forward to a day's pigeon shooting. He ended it in hospital, fighting for his life. His pigeon-shooting buddy accidentally shot him in the stomach. But Alfie's problems were only just starting. His injuries were barely covered by his shooting association insurance. Fieldsports Channel reporter Alex Howell looks at this insurance and finds out where it falls short. I understand that the org in question wasn't basc.
LWalker
I've been with the NGO for sometime now and I can't see myself changing any time soon. Well managed organisation thats genuinely looks out for its members in my opinion. I have also been a member of BASC and I would say the same so it's a tough one, but NGO is only £40 and you get plenty of updates and emails with good relevant info. Ian North Wales
That link is terable, I would expect any shooting insurance to pay out for an accent of that nature, why else would you join any club ?? I think these people should reflect there membership and be upfront about there polices of insurance
Scully
I've had nothing but good service from the NGO since joining some five years or so ago.I was a member of both them and BASC at one time. Now only with the former but I think the CA is very proactive and on the ball at the moment.May be worth a look? Cranfield
The Countryside Alliance is definitely worth a look, my renewal reminder arrived today from BASC, annual senior citizen membership £65, only £32.00 with Countryside Alliance. I notice the NGO is £40 pa.
drut
I get tired of these threads but my preference is basc:far from perfect maybe but possibly the most "balanced" of the bunch in terms of championing shooters needs. As an aside:if only the rest of the organisation had David BASC's "balls of steel" as demonstrated by his willingness to take the stick he receives on this forum and others BASC would be a lot closer to perfect! ips
After much deliberation I have gone for NGO as that was my initial preference. An extra £10 pa assures insurance cover up to 5k of earnings for beating, loading etc. Thank you for all the replies.
