tonker
Just a heads up on these. After umming and ahhing for a while debating whether I needed one or not, I decided to go for one, but as it was a whim I thought I'd try cheap and cheerful. I know people always say you get what you pay for, and I may be proved wrong but as yet I think I have struck lucky. There are a dozens of makes and prices from £70 to many hundreds. I went on the evil, and looked from the cheapest up and then read write ups on them. They all do different things but I just wanted a cheapy range finder. I opted for one that goes by the name of a Suaoki Pro there are a few vids on youtube about them. They are very small and light, ideal for dropping in your pocket although they come with a bag and belt loop. They have 7 different functions :- It has a flagpole lock for golf, distance correction mode for uphill and downhill shots, A fog mode which they reckon lets it see through fog. horizontal and vertical measurement modes, and it has a speed mode klh /mph I can't comment on any of the other modes, but just the basic rangefinder is spot on according to my zeroing ground where I have measured stations from 25/150yds As I say It's just a heads up and do your own research, but I'm well pleased with mine, and they reckon they work out to 600mts (again I can't comment) The best bit in my mind was that it cost me £75.99 posted. Oh I have nothing to do with the product, as it sounds as if I'm a sales rep Cheers Steve

iano
I just ordered the Suaoki as well. Cost me a couple of quid more though :( ended up going for this fellow; https://www.amazon.co.uk/Suaoki-Rangefinder-Measurement-Distance-Correction/dp/B018JXE2D0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493495118&sr=8-1&keywords=Suaoki+600m+Digital+Laser Good reviews (albeit from golfers mostly), the negative ones seemed overly moanny so I'm happy enough with it Edited April 29, 2017 by iano

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

If I'm punching the data into Strelok, does it give the angle to target? Or just a modified distance? Or neither?!
tonker
Both I think reading the instructions, but as I said I haven't used that function yet
Hammo
Cant remember exactly what I paid for my cheap Chinese rangefinder, £60 ish. Nice and small, in a carry case and works great for me. Did some comparison ranging out to about 400m, against a pricey Leupold, and gave the same readings. Gets fairly regular use, and lives in my jacket pocket permanantly. figgy
For £60.00 English it's worth a punt. Up around the 90-100 mark is be going one of the big names like hawke etc for a bit more money.

Tested it out on the cattle and horses when doing the rounds. Gives the distance and the angle, which is as I was looking for. Only issue is that it doesn't give illuminated range, so was a bit tricky around dusk to see the specific values.
