Shotguneddy
Had a couple of hours to kill last Sunday so went to look at some peas we got and spotted a heavy line of pigeons flighting low against the wind into our field so sat and watched for half hour figuring out the place of attack and decided on a hedge 10-15 yards from a sitty tree where pigeons had been sitting up after feeding, set up hide and put out 12 shells on wobler sticks and then waited for Mr woody to drop in, withing minutes pigeons began coming into decoys perfectly so 1 down on first shot and it stayed like that for 30-40 mins before we had to pack up and head back for a Sunday roast, not biggest bag but great day out and pleasure to be in the countryside, my dad even managed 3 of them this time, thanks

Guest
What .410 did you use? Well done Its only a cheap Baikal 1 shot with 9 inch moderator fitted, looking to get the Mossberg's 3 shot soon heard good things about it but its a bit louder than mine
Guest
Decent bag for this time of year when not much pigeon around.. Depends what crop you got access to iv got winter rape that's really patchy due to weather and constant bird abuse and more recently peas witch I'm seeing very good numbers feeding/fighting onto, just finding the time after a 60 hour week working and 10 hour week in the pub
Walker570
When we have so many discussions on here ... and I am not knocking them .... about what 12 gauge cartridge is best for pigeon and here with have a respectable bag of birds with the insy winsy tiny little 410 shooting half the amount of lead the 12 gauges are. Put the bird in the pattern at sensible ranges and the 410 will do the job. Well done. I have a Mossy with the moderator and to be honest, it isn't quiet with normal cartridges and even the so called sub sonics are still noisy. I'm tempted to get the standard barrel as a result, but I have two other fourtens to choose from anyway.

My permissions are mainly winter rape.. had good bags until end of march and then went quite. Damaged rape advanced well in first spell of good weather so now more limited. Lately bags are between 10 and 20 pigeons.
