Ultrastu
My farmer has just cut his grasss fields today and is collecting in now . Ive had some success in the past on new cut grass but it seems like every field in the area has just been cut this week . So there is a lot for the pige and blacks to choose from . Anybody have any advice for getting the best from a new cut field .?
aga man
One of the farms i shoot on is a dairy farm and they are always cutting grass fields for silage/hay at this time of year. The only activity we see on the cut fields is corvids often lots of them feeding on grubs and worms etc. First light is the best time to make a good bag. The pigeons will be turning towards ripening cereals now so watch your barley fields again for those.
Cranfield
I have shot a large number of pigeons over clover, but mainly shot corvids over cut grass, with perhaps the odd passing pigeon. They never seem that interested in my area, perhaps because there are better alternatives.

aga man
What is it about cut grass that attracts Fox? Plenty to attract a fox on a cut field elvis, rodents, moles, earthworms and as above casualties of the mowing.
