Dr D
On Monday on my way to work I noticed pigeons heading into the woods first thing. Not a good sign. Acorns? Beechmast? Fast forward to this afternoon. Not a bird to be seen. ? I was out from 12 looking and as time marched on in desperation I decided to check out a field under an old flightline. When I arrived there were 10 birds down feeding. Plus a few crows. It was such a nice afternoon. A strong southerly wind. Too enticing to simply give up. I also had a home made bouncer I wanted to try out. So, I set up with 6 shells and soon managed to get the bouncer going. Birds came in a steady trickle for the rest of the afternoon. Taking an age to slide in low crossing the field to join my growing flock. I finished at 5.30 and picked 73, a few crows and a brace of magpies. I suspect it's coming to an end for while though. motty
Nice. Like me, you're wondering where the next bag may come from. Hopefully, we may get another chance or two.
marsh man
You have had some very good bags recently Dr D and todays is another one to add to the list. at one time ,most of the gear connected with pigeon decoying was do it yourself , decoys , poles , cradles , bouncers / angles , seat and chin supports , so it is nice to see someone like yourself still using home made equipment . nagantino
Watched a field of barley all month. So wet the farmer couldnt cut it. He cut it Wednesday after a few good days and it had flocks of crows and pigeons on it even in the pouring rain. The forecast was good for Thursday so a massacre was being prepared. Thursday morning was sunny and dry with a good breeze over the cut stubble. I set up and shot a crossing woodie after a few minutes then......nothing. Finished at 5 o,clock exactly for 20 birds. You didn't do so bad.
