A good Christmas dinner will do me!

I'm not interested in the hassle and greed of Christmas.

Stood in the supermarket que the other day,and nearly everyone had a large trolley full to bursting! Ridiculous greed and totally unnecessary for ONE day.

That's commercialisation for you! Impress the need upon the silly that you can't live three days without a mountain of food, and step back to watch the ensuing supermarket dashes! One turkey, a loaf of bread, veg, a bottle or two of wine, a few sweet treats and the trimmings for lunch and your pretty much set.

Then you see a £350 shop for a family of 4 for three days?

My christmas shop "when I got the time to do it" was about £50 for four. Chris, myself and mum and dad. That's goose, chicken, beef and gammon with the trimmings. A few bottles of alcohol free spritzer. A Christmas pudding and crackers from the pound shop. A few bits of cheese, crackers, and some bits for a high tea. All went into 3 decent carrier bags! I didn't need a tipper wagon to drop it off on the drive.

I agree Geordie, gone are the days when you need to stock up due to shops closing for 3-4 days.

After all Xmas dinner is nothing more than a glorified Sunday dinner.

I've stood behind people paying £800 for a trolley full of ****,there choice but it's not something I would do,and I bet most of it ends up in the BIN.

I totally agree with what you are saying , I went to the local Tesco near mine Friday to get my paper and a few rolls like I do most mornings , it was about 7 . 30am and the shop was packed with people rushing about filling there trolley up as if they haven't got a minute to live , and I bet they were shopping Saturday and Sunday , madness springs to mind.

Gonna have a quiet one. Pub for a couple with most of the village then home for a big Sunday lunch.

Missus makes preserves,  pickles, sloe gin, damson vodka, chocs etc etc so folks we care about get a hamper of homemade goodies.

Have an enjoyable one however you choose to do it.
