Neverforget
Any one ever used any , I have a dent on a crank shaft and the oil seal won't seal it so was thinking off the two part liquid metal Any advise would be appreciated Edited January 3, 2018 by Neverforget Add a pic
B&W FOX
You may be better off using a two part epoxy resin as it is easier to work and finish off, or get someone to put some weld in there and get it machined afterwards. I've used Devcon metal resin on crank cases that were holed and it was still perfectly oil tight two years later, but it is expensive stuff for a small repair. Ricko
Years ago I had a metal casting break off on a Suzuki GT engine, I used Plastic Padding 'Leak Fix', a two part filler. I was impressed how it adhered to the alloy casing, and it was machinable when set.
walshie
J.B Weld. Used it to fix the sump on a scooter we had. Lasted for the life of the bike.
figgy
If it’s only a dent will a sealing washer not work. Or a tapered plug.
guzzicat
Brazing rod, did a similar repair on a land rover block where a hot spot had dropped & piston had dented block worked perfect. Wymondley
All these liquid metal products are just metal powder in an epoxy resin. They all work very well. We use plastic padding "chemical metal" at work, never had a failure yet. Just make sure the area is degreased and keyed. I used it for a temporary repair to the fuel tank on my Land Rover, ten years later it's still there.
Bluebarrels
I've used 2 part to refill gap between s/s barrels,15K carts and 10 years down the line it's still as solid as day one.
Eyefor
Many years ago I used this Company's products on cracked castings http://www.belzona.co.uk/en/index.aspx with very good results.
figgy
Belzona is used offshore a lot for repairing damaged and corroded flange faces. Works too, I was scepticle how good it was.
