Ollieollie
Hello All, We are going to be booking a trip on the caledonian canal for this time next year. bigmcg
Caley Cruisers based in Inverness do boat hire, great fun for a weeks holiday. Think you can do different start days, but the locks used to be shut on a Sunday, so get somewhere you can spend a couple of nights and a full day. bigmcg

Looks right up our street!! It’s sat to sat so the sunday is not a problem mate. Will be a great week. Cheers for the reply
greenshank1
Hi mate Amazing scenery and quiet . It can still be cold in the Great Glen at this time of year so take plenty of warm clothes and plenty warm food. Lochness is stunning with the south side being quieter . North side has busy main road and Urquarhart Castle and Drumnadrochit and all the Monster hunting etc etc Fort Augustus is beautiful with locks then on the canal along to Loch Oich . This is a beautiful quiet section and then Loch Oich has the well of Seven Heads then canal and along onto Neptunes stair case at Fort William. Some people prefer the lochs others the canals. Have a great time.

Lord Geordie
Best advice? Don't fall in its a large body of water to navigate, but has some beautiful scenery! just take your time, don't be afraid to ask for help if needed navigating the locks, and most importantly, enjoybyour holiday! It's a much more laid back pace is boating!!

I think you would do very well with that, you would'nt even need to put them on a downrigger

Ricko
My neighbours used to go on the canal on a larger vessel that had a crew but they had mountain bikes and kayaks on board so you could do your own thing too.
