ips
Yep, timpsons did a coded key for my vitara within five minutes and about 40 quid
Vince Green
What ever you do make sure you get a spare key. The cost is outrageous if you lose the one you have

Yes sir they do all the coding but you need to take your car so they can check it works, it would seem that they just copy the code from the key you have. My local timpsons is a kiosk outside local tesco so it was easy. They really were very very efficient and literally five min job ?

Vince Green
If its a 2008 its not too bad but very modern cars have much more complicated systems that generate multiple random codes and people like Timpsons are way out of the game. You don't plug them in the cars are keyless. People don't realise the implications However, lose one and its an unmitigated nightmare, nobody can bypass the system to get you going, the door locks are keyless too. AA and RAC don't cover you for it so its around £300 recovery to a main agent then £4-500 to sort it plus £400 (typically) for a new key. That is a serious amount of money , lose the only key and it might be cheaper to buy another motor ☺️, especially some of the ones I have had . Not exactly true my friend- access to the OBD2 port opens up a multitude of ‘fun’ and many ‘workarounds’
