Two outings at Crop Protection - getting to know the Benelli M2

Two short crop protection outings . The first was on a hot day over wheat stubble and the second was over standing oats and OSR in the pouring rain.

These were my second and third outings with the "new" second hand Benelli M2 I recently bought. I'm trying to get used to it before the duck shooting starts.

I'm feeding it a wide variety of cartridges from 3" steel to 70mm clay loads (in the gun at the same time) and it is cycling everything flawlessly so far. I'm pretty impressed with it.

if you can shoot crows like that , you should have no problem on the ducks , hopefully, the m2 suits you , it can be a bit iffy when you try out a new gun , well done.

Thank you for your kind comment. I've tightened up the choke to half on these outings and it seems to be working well at longer range. It's a good sign when you connect without really thinking about it.

We'll see when September comes!

You seem to have got the hang of the new gun quickly, I have shot a Benelli M2 and they are a very nice gun to shoot.

I am also looking forward to your duck season starting.......................................................and the videos that will follow.

Thanks Cranfield.  I  don't think I have ever got used to a gun so quickly.  We'll see what happens come September.  I'll certainly be trying to record it!

Big AL you should have no problems with M2 friend of mine using one for ducks for years great guns?

That's good to hear Gerry  - I really like the way it handles and the easier maintenance compared to gas operated semi autos.

Nice shooting. I brought a 2nd hand Fac M2 last month & have put 3-400 shells though it from light clay loads to RC50's no issues at all. Love the way the gun mounts & with the nice thick soft recoil pad it is a joy to shoot. Wish i could shoot my supernova as well as i do the M2. Enjoy the duck shooting not long now can't wait ?.

Bleeping annoying is about right. I actually tried to find a bleep long enough to cover my outburst but decided it was easier to mute it.

In fairness to him, I don't usually take him on decoying outings. I'm not happy about him retrieving too many corvids  (we don't get big numbers of pigeons here). He was not happy about being left behind that day so I relented!
