shootingmike
I had a 3 inch escort the other year. One place that was very cheap was a place called Dereck Lee Gunsmith's at Tumby, lincolnshire. I know that's no use in Worcestershire but it was well worth me a trip. I think I paid about 275 brand new, and he'd ordered it in for me. They were and still are wanting 375 or 395 where I live. Not seen a webley yet or heard of anyone trying one. Word of warning for both though, if it's for wildfowling and you want to shoot steel, check the barrels have "steel shot" or the fleur de lys stamped on otherwise you won't be able to shoot 3 inch steel. Unless you get the 3and a half inch. For more info check out my thread called something like WARNING TO NON TOX USERS.

ph5172
My Mate had to change to a semi through injury and got an escort when they first came out, we tried the Webly at dovey Valley and in both our opinions The Webly is a better gun, not worth selling your Escort for but out of the 2 we would both have the Webly. It also comes with a Gunslip and life time Warranty if you have it serviced evry 3 or 5 years (cant recall which but probably 3) by Webly. And the prices are similar. Hope that helps

shootingmike
Looked at one of the new escort 3 inch yesterday. Nice addition is the extra vented butt pads to adjust the stock length. Also, I checked on the barrel and it's got the fleur de lys stamped on so they can take 3 inch hi performance steel. The shop owner told me he'd do me one for 280 in black synthetic or 320 in camo. dodeer
Both guns are ****! Little profit in either so no big discounts at shows. Better of buying local so when ( not if) it breaks you don't have to drive many miles!
BSA Shaun
Both guns are ****! you are talking utter ****. The escort is one of the best budget semi's that money can buy, will cycle all day long and hit what you point it at. For the money and the warranty what more do you want? vole
Was it Litts recently with Winchester semi auto black synth for £245 ? Never used one but cheapest i have seen.
sean91
I was looking at purchasing one of these two guns the other day but ending up buying a s/h Beretta 303 for 350pound in v good condition. The guy at the shop was offering the webley & scotts (walnut) for 470 but agreed that they would lose value straight away, unlike s/h Berettas. Plus, he considered Beretta semis to be the best. Today I've put over 100 cartridges through mine and it performed flawlessly . Only downside is it's not 3" Sean
chrismpullbang
I switched to a semi about a year ago when my dad bought the escort, went for a shoot and I was hooked. I then bought the Webley 810 in walnut and I hae to say for the warranty and service you get from Webley I would choose the Webley. between the two of us we have had less probles with the Webley regarding cycling. If a beretta was on offer though... go for the beretta

Havent been to one since i was 14 you see. cheers anybody got a view they are basically both the same gun. both ****. made in turkey. better with an old a5 browning or a 300/301/302/303 series beretta, or remmie 1100. you can pick em all up at around the same £ and will outlast your escorts or webleys. mr_colt
I tried a Webley synthetic semi at Dovey Valley and immediatly fell in love with it. I will say however, I'd rather go for the walnut. As a left hander that can be costly so a second hand semi might be better for me. However I will say many people think the Webley quality is a little better than the Escorts: Plus you get the servicing, gun slip and 3-5 chokes dependant on the model bought. I have never personally tried a Escort so I can't comment on them; the Webley's are reliable semis that with proper care will last for years. You can expect them to do whatever they should be capable of doing. mr_colt

I have put over 8,000 cartridges through it with no more than 6 failing to recycle. I have had 2 escorts 1 second hand broke down twice in 6 weeks. hammer broke then breech lever smashed. and 1 brand new went terminal 1st shoot out. would not recycle at all on 28 gramms watch the forums.! webley and scott are not the same old company as was. beretta are. shootingmike
Yeah, but again, the older models such as the 303 etc. are NOT proofed for high performance steel (which is any 3 inch steel cartridge.) The new escort's and webleys are, they're stamped with the fleur de lys on the barrel. I know Beretta are good guns as is my Franchi but it's time the Italian manufacturers started steel proofing for magnum loads, especially for the prices they charge. BSA Shaun
You wont find a much better cheap semi auto than the Escort. Sales will tell you that alone, and its a great pigeon gun. Its the age old story of whether you want a second hand Merc or a brand new Ford.
Goldfish
Got a secondhand Hatsan Escort and have loved every shot. Shot better with this gun than any expensive alternative. Now Im after another
