JDog
I saw these on my early morning walk today. They are not to be confused with Crocus as they are a different family altogether. I am not sure that I have ever seen them in September before.
henry d
I saw some that looked similar last week, didn't look closely just made a mental note. Are they related to the saffron crocus (?) as I seem to recall they are harvested around this time of year, but there again I'm not much of a gardener. Walker570
Autumn Crocus. Just dug a load out of the garden as they flower about now and then the rest of the year are all leaves.

Walker570
Hmm??? Look very much like those I have just thrown away. I was told that those where autumn crocus..6 to 7 inches tall and no leaves ?? Large bulb very similar to a tulip and very large lush green leaves after the flowers. I would therefore be interested to know what they are.

JDog
Colchicums are a member of the Lily family and have seven stamens. Crocus are members of the Iris family and have three stamens. Edited September 15, 2019 by JDog
