Does he deserve to win the F1 championship at the first attempt?

Or is it just me that thinks that he needs to earn it more?

And if he does, will he have the country loving it like Mansells championship in 92?

Will it be devalued because Schumachers not there?

Or is it the case that Ron Dennis is just trying to give the world the Tiger Woods of F1??

hell yeah he deserves it......he's a demon. The guy knows no sense of fear and he's been on the podium in every race, also anyone who can push Alonso's nose that far out of place deserves a medal(cheating spanish get) Even when Alonso cheated - Hamilton didn't cave his head in with a bat, he just got on with giving him a valuable lesson in F1 driving. <_<:lol:

He seems a nice bloke, but isn't the championship more about cars and tactics than drivers these days ?

They don't seem to be able to overtake on most circuits, after the first bend.

It seems Hamilton is doing with his car what the others can't. They showed a clip about him on one circuit where the perfect line through a bend takes the car within about 6" of the wall and the recommended speed through this line was something like 160mph..... Hamilton was 4" away from the wall at 164mph and gained almost a second coming out of the bend. Can't take it away from the man, he does what he says he's gonna do. I'm impressed and I don't even follow F1 <_<

He's good and there aint no doubting that <_<

The problem is;- can he sustain it and all the pressure he gets from those commentators in the racing world and the national press about being the new Schumacker and the great British hope? Look what the pressure did to old Button!

Frank Williams told him to go and get some more experience under his belt and released him on a contractual period to another team. That was at a time when Williams wasn't doing too well. Button thought he was better staying with the big boys and the case was fought through the courts - and he won (somehow!)

I bet Jenson wishes he had gone back to Williams now though as they are once again beginning to show their worth.

At the Hungarian this weekend, Hamilton basically took a decision of his own choice and ended up embarrasing his whole team - even though the won the race - and this was only to easily seen and heard in Ron Dennis's face and comments after the race. If Lewis hadn't done what he did in the heats, Alonso wouldn't have been released by his mechanics when he was - which then allegedly resulted in Lewis not beating the red light for the end of the session.

Lewis himself explained all this in the interview and apologised for it - he could do no less than win to try and make up to the team for it -and he did so in grand style.

However, in the big boys league - it is not about winning for the individual - the team is everything - regardless of how good you may be - or feel you are. Check all the races when Schumacker had a driver every bit as good as him and sometimes better (Irvine and Barrichello to name just two) but the team thing was always put first and that is why Ferrari has always been the dynamic thing it is.

In case you wonder - I'm a hardened Williams fanatic - glad to see Hamilton win a race but look at the cost to the team - Alonso relegated to 6th on the grid unable to do anything in the race, and the team not allowed to take its place on the podium for the constructors - or get the points for position in the race.

Give Hamilton a few more telling offs from Ron Dennis and the condemnation of the team, some more race experience at this level and the chance to mature without pressure and we will truly have a world champion.

Not quite every race -EUROPEAN GRAND PRIX he finished 9th

But he deserves all he's getting, To get the results he's been getting in only his 1st year is outstanding. He just needs to keep a cool head and the championships all his!

Hamilton has turned formula one on its head. To say should he have to work for it more is forgetting that he's been racing Karts nearly since he could walk, he's got one hell of a racing background and where he is really amazing is driving under pressure. For a young driver to not crack under pressure is pretty amazing and personally I do hope he carries on winning.

Lets not forget his racing pedigree, like al4x says. His last visit to Monaco was actually his third, up until then he'd not actually lost a race there.

He's set or matched the following :-

* Most consecutive podiums from debut race: 9 (previous record was 2)

* Most consecutive podiums for a British driver: 9 (tied with Jim Clark)

* Youngest driver to lead the World Championship

* First driver to achieve consecutive wins from pole position in debut season

Since 2000 he's won these championships :-

* European Formula A Championship

* Formula A World Cup

* Formula Renault UK

* Formula 3 Euroseries

* Formula 3 Euroseries

* GP2 Series

That's without his incredibly successful karting record.

He's worked hard to be where he is, he deserves every single second

Poor guy has only just started winning in F1 and becoming a bit of a household name and already the knives are out for him, how we love to knock people off their mantles eh :(

Like Pin, I admired Schumacher, but as someone who didn't stop at cheating to win marks him very well down in my list.

He deserves it in my book. He's composed and educated in the sport and has already proved himself in all the preceeding formulas he's raced in. Make no mistakes he can drive that mercedes thats under him. He has driven his heart out this season and has shown the world whats to come. Ron Dennis doesnt help matters by letting his two premium drivers duel it out. If he wants a smooth team then he should run a team orders. I'd like to see Hamilton win and set the new bench mark. I'd also like to see Alonso win, after all, he too has driven very well but has been unlucky and his frustration can well be seen in his driving. Its good to watch though.

The problem is how would team orders work. He's got a world champion and a potential world champion, either is going to be very p***ed if he shows any form of favouritism. I certainly wouldn't want his job of keeping them under control, Alonso has got his nose put well and truly out of joint as Hamilton simply is better. One things for sure Hamilton has been very good for the sport and seems to have brought a new element to the races it doesn't seem to be quite so much of a procession as normal

Hamilton's entrance has managed to resurect the sport. I for one enjoy it alot more now. Massa and Raikonen are having a similar duel and are hot on the heals of McClaren. Even BMW seem to be getting closer to having a championship team. Bring it on, i'm still rooting for Hamilton, I can't support everyone. :(

as a driver i think hes the best England has had in a long time, i was a Mansel fan big time, personaly i think hes a lot more humble than most out there, especialy the spanish squarehead "alonso the ponso", theres arrogence for you, you can tell his bell has been rung by the " rookie of the year " :( :yes: cheating in FI,,,,,,,,,, noooooooooo realy, take a good look at the whole picture here, these guys are the top of the mountain in motor sports throughout the world, they push the limits in every aspect of the sport to win, the only way you find out if they crossed the line is that whoever did got away with it and the other guys wernt quick enough to do the same, leave them to it i say, i love the sport for all its quirks and trates, and its a great thing to see another brit driver up front for a change, i get sick of watching the UK fall foul of the rest of the world in other sports we dominated years ago.

go lewis :lol::lol:

I got the exact reaction to my post that I was expecting, pro Hamilton.

With a nation like ours where sporting opportunities only arise if Mummy & Daddy are rich, or you know which backside to place a brown tongue. An example of natural ability & class fighting to the fore is refreshing.

It's irritating that unfortunately alot of youngsters get the door slammed in their face because they have the wrong passport.

It can happen that the polilitics of Britain get in the way of the little man/woman and their progression in their chosen field (Just look at how many votes our representatives don't get in the Eurovision Song Contest every year).

Sportsmen in many sports are selected because of the country they represent and whether the sponsors that pay the Bills have a market there. Not making waves politically can sometimes be more important than taking the most skilled candidate.

It's about time that this country gets it's act together to push forward the generally talented otherwise we'll be a laughing stock globally at the 2012 olympics.

We as a nation are in dire need of some good sporting press!!!

You just watch Hamilton get passed over at the 2007 Sportsman of the year though...just because it's not a mass sport! :)

I've got to agree with you on that one.

You could bet your bottom dollar that some poncy footballer wins it just because his name is in the papers a lot that month.

If sports personality of the year was won on actual natural talent and winning year in year out, then George Digweed would be up there every year!!!!

:) He tried that and Hamilton showed considerable arrogance and at the same time his undeniable pedigree by completely ignoring him and getting the result anyway. The mark of a champion to come, and no doubt about it.

Hamilton and Alonso wheel to wheel down the straight as they were must have had poor old Ron in bits, but that single incident sent a message to Alsono that he's not top dog any more and look what it'd gained Lewis! He's taken it to a two time world champ and won on nerve alone, it's sent Alonso into a self destruct.

Good on him and more of it :lol:
