captainhastings
Going to clean me hatsan escort soon. Its been out lately in some right wet old weather. The guy in the gun shop said to use petrol to clean it as it's cheap and then dry off and apply a light oil. Is that about it and what could I use other than petrol as I will be doing it in door ? I see there is some thing called Napier ? Thanks Edited October 19, 2019 by captainhastings

GingerCat
I've never used petrol and can't see why anyone would. Just use a good gun cleaner or even wd40 if in a pinch. Some of the carbon may need a gentle scrubbing with a kitchen scouring pad if it's very dirty. Saying that kitchen roll has always done me. When done give it a wipe over with an oily rag after. Should take less than 10 mins.
captainhastings
Cheers folks wd40 it is then. I bought a couple of seals as well just in case I damage it.
figgy
I use WD40 to clean mine most times as it's easy to use and don't stink when you let it soak for a while. You can use a drop of engine oil to lube and parts like slide rails after cleaning, it won't go gummy.
captainhastings
All done when reassembled there is a few mil of play which allows me to move the barrel up and down a smidge. It clicked into place as it should. Is that ok? The forend is on tight Edited October 19, 2019 by captainhastings

Scully
21 hours ago, gotgcoalman said: pull the bolt back and nip the end cap up. should all be nice and tight. This. When first assembled a new Benelli there was a couple of mm of play between barrel and receiver even though the fore end was as tight as a tighty thing. I couldn’t get it tighter no matter what I did, so took it outside and fired it; that sorted it. Tightened right up after that. 👍
