figgy
I have a few cravats and wear them with waistcoat if on a paid day, bit more dressed up than for syndicate days.

Give Jdog a bonus point because we enjoyed the challenge. Everyone on our DIY syndicate puts a shirt and tie on. Bears no correlation to respect for the quarry, it turns out. A bit like insisting on a tie for school uniforms to 'maintain standards'. IF that's what the head/keeper is using a crutch for a poorly run shoot/school...then you'll all just look smarter screwing up. As for cravats, go for it. BUT, you will be expected to shoot a SxS with paper cartidges...and turn up in a Austin 7, and use 'hullo' as an expression of surprise, and not greeting. figgy
Uddeyoffroad, funny you hit the nail on the head. I do shoot a sxs and paper case carts sometimes when wearing a cravat. Don't have a Austin 7 or Ruby, does rather spiffing count when a good shot is made 😁 Mine is worn and tied the same as my tie would be. None of this Nicolas Parsons look about it. Wife's cousin who I've shot with for decades once said you won't wear that. It was a bright yellow mustard waistcoat with bright coloured lines making up checked squares with gold saying back and bright polished brass buttons, with a cravat and nice mustard shooting stockings. 😂😂 It was a nice paid let day. 👍

If I get chance tomorrow I have a go, I think it was only a half Windsor or four in hand knot I tied. Having a neck like I have a double Windsor I'm left with two short tails rather than a long time, unless it's extra length ties.
