tulkyuk
I have been sat here this morning dreaming of my ideal place to live and after reading some of the posts by NTTF and The last engineer, i Think canada would be a supurb place and with all the diffent types of animals and birds to shoot and the not so strict gun laws, i think thats where i'd like to end up. Yes i know the UK is a brilliant place, but if you had the cash and the inclanation where would most of you like to be. Tulky

Spaniel
I think over here in the UK it would have to be some where on the coast, Devon or Dorset. But abroad I would love to live in Canada with all the Hunting but dont think the Mrs would appreciate it all to much. Cheers
lurcherboy
The South Island, New Zealand. Spend the rest of my days hunting boar with dogs, fishing for Salmon and trout (all year round in some areas) and shooting deer for food as they are a pest in most places. Forgot lamping for Possums and coping 25 NZ dollors a kilo for the fur. Scenery is pretty good too and the offroading is unsurpassed. Yes i know the UK is a brilliant place, but if you had the cash and the inclanation where would most of you like to be. Tulky nice post, and thought provoking too, Canada is a superb place to live, as are many countries including the UK, my younger brother chose Australia last year, all have their pro's and con's, i made a decision back in the 90's to do it, things wern't great back home for me and the fam so of i did go, still remember the many voices from way back saying "you'll be back in 6 months",,,,,,, well im still here and happy, its not for everyone i know but i kinda knew with my folks if it all went pear shaped their door would always be open (plus i kept a key just in case ). i guess it dont matter where you live realy, its all a matter of choices, yours, you have to make the best of the world your in, if its not working make a decision to change it,and go for it, i have ben back many times and asked old friends of mine in my industry if they'd like to come over, christ my company would pay their flight, so over a few beers i got tired of hearing the same old, "yeah well you had somewhere to go" ,,,no i didnt but anyway,,,," its alright for you, you had a job" no i didnt but anyway,,,, " you can say that now" and so on, and my favorite " but all my friends are here" ,,,they still will be when you come back to visit. tulkyuk, make your dream a reality my friend, go for it, before you utter those famous words " i wonder what i would be doing now if i had chose,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,," a contented last engineer. Bagsy
Essex! Lovely places just south of Colly or the Essex/Suffolk border. If I moved abroad then Canada (Jasper maybe), fell in love with the country more than once!

Presh
Yorkshire born but been living in the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire for the past six years. Absolutely stunning part of the world but equally absolutely not chance of owning a property with sufficient land of my own to shoot on. The 'London set' are buying all of the farms at less than 300 acres so that they can talk loudly about their country estate!!. Will have to move back to Yorkshire....what's that about 'clouds and silver linings!' Presh

JohnGalway
Exactly where I am By the sea in Connemara. Why? Well, went mackerel fishing today, flat calm got sunburnt, tooled around in the boat around the bay and islands. Have rabbits if I want them, greycrows, magpies. Thousands upon thousands of acres for foxing should I be bothered (not lately). Plenty of duck when I get my shottie fixed, plenty of deer if I ever want to go at them. Not to mention owning my own small farm where I will build a house (eventually...). The good weather has started when the tourists are leaving And I'm closing in on those Lotto numbers, I know cos they keep telling me it could be me... There's a reason "In God's country" is in my sig yanno...
digger
Canada over ever country I have visited by a mile. Alaska is nice but its american, the Canadians beat the yanks on everything social. Fantastic is an understatement and in two years time ( fingers crossed ) I shall be posting from there. Putting the wheels in motion and cant ever see a reason to come back for more than a couple of weeks. Got to be better than going to the land of convict in breeds ? Apologies if you are Australian but its true.
Pedro
North Devon/Somerset near the Quantocks. Mrs P. and I went to college near there and had some brilliant walks with stunning scenery and brilliant beaches, fond memories It's also not far from her Mums' farm so I could shoot to my hearts content there. If not that - a well kitted out camper van roaming Europe, with a Fireblade on a rack on the back of it P.

Mungler
Me, I would live on Boob Island. I assume it is a real place, as I have seen it on video. Once living on Boob Island I would work as a plumber, window cleaner or pizza delivery boy.
chunk
Me, I would live on Boob Island. I assume it is a real place, as I have seen it on video. Once living on Boob Island I would work as a plumber, window cleaner or pizza delivery boy. Sounds a bit like here. In fact if i`m off in the week i walk my lad to school so i can walk past the bus station and see all the teenage girls on their way to college. All low cut halter tops with more cleavage than you could park a bicycle in. Beaches in every direction bursting with scantily clad females. Idealy, i would buy a gaff down a long lane with no neighbours. It would have a bit of land, a wood, and a pond. Build a small range for just kicking back and having a plink. If there was no pond build one, stock it with fish, For a balmy evenings fishing encourage ducks for the odd evenings shooting. Roost shooting the wood in the late winter. The land would have good topographical features with good drainage, so theres plenty of rabbits to shoot. No deer here which is a severe blow. The perfect place would be adjacent to the beach. Accessed by a footpath, for fishing, kayaking, etc. If i was seriously loaded i would buy a cabin on a ski resort and disappear there for a month or two. I wouldnt want to move abroad. All our family is here, and although we have a few yobs, it is`nt like the mainland. Shouting at them will make them cry and they arent carrying guns. Our islamic friends are thin on the ground. No gypsies, or imported european crimewaves which is a big plus. Cheers Andy.
