Right after working 3 years as a game keeper, i havent had any luck with fox snares. i bought some more, weathered them and have set them out on my shoot.

I caught this little vixen yesterday evening, was really excited as after going around checking empty snares for months there was a fox in one. I had set 4 snares along runs on a grass margin around one of my woods.

Here was the result.

Here is the snare:

Nothing wrong with snaring foxes, should we also not show shot foxes, rabbits, birds etc?

The anti's have sufficient pictures to which they have placed false captions to keep them going for a while I think ;)

Well done, and although I don't wish a plague of foxes on your shoot if they are about I hope this is the first of many!

Cheers guys, snaring is a very effective and legal method of controlling foxes, If anything i think there should be more pictures of snaring up to educate others on how to use them effectively.

I have a few more snares i need to weather up (In a water and salt solution, turns them brown like picture within days, then ill be setting them on another part of my shoot. I really enjoy hunting out runs and basically pretending im a fox, and trying to think where i would like to walk.

Have had 3 foxes in the past week or so off this one field, i shot the one the other friday, snared this one, and had another keeper ajoining my land shoot another one.

3 vixens down.

Alex :)

Cheers george for the idea about wire tealers, ill have an experiment.

Job done.

I never was a big fan of snares untill i became a gamekeeper and absolutely hated foxes.

As a game keeper results must be shown and relatively good numbers met, have already lost 10's of pheasants to foxes, not planning to lose anymore. Most of the foxes left on my shoot are extremely lamp shy, its not cold enough for the use of terriers in my stacks etc, so snaring is the only other real effective way.

Have only erally been snaring seriously for a few months, have had the odd one or 2 out before then but not my 20 or so which are out.

:)
