Browning GTS
On one of mine i always have to ring first, but on his remote land near me i have free run. On my other permission over the pheasent shoot i just turn up and go, just keep away from the pens and drives.
chunk
Most of mine i just show up. One i have to phone first. A golf course i have to tell the cops, but nobody else. One of the farms doesnt like to see anyone sundays as this is family time and the farm is central to the fields, which is fair enough. taffygun
I have open permission on all of mine, but I still phone all of them before I go there out of courtesy, also on one of my pieces of land there are about 7 different people with permission on the same land. Dave-G
Same as most others. I have an agreed place where I park on some of my farms so if they suspect someones around they take a look-see if its me. Most I just turn up. Two I have to pre-arrange, those won't have sunday or bank holiday shooters.

The fishing ponds that i shoot on i can go any morning i want or at night time but do keep away when they are fishing or having a match . And the farm i shoot for Dave-g i always give the farmer a bell to make sure its alright before i set out even more now with this F/m and blue tongue going round
invector
I go out when I want, without letting anyone know, but I always text to let them know that I've been, and what I've shot. On one estate I have the game shooting dates, and never go the day before a shoot, so that the ground is left undisturbed.

hmr
in my opinion we should all ring the land owner out of courtesy before we go shooting.i dont have to on my permissions but always ring first.after all they dont know who,s on there land and if they call the old bill this can cause problems and we dont want them involved at all
Will Beasley
in my opinion we should all ring the land owner out of courtesy before we go shooting.i dont have to on my permissions but always ring first.after all they dont know who,s on there land and if they call the old bill this can cause problems and we dont want them involved at all I have to notify all Farmers ( out of courtesy so they know who's about ) and the Police ( just in case some bunny-hugger hears gunshots and poops his pants and calls plod ) EVERY MORNING. It really is a good idea. Can save a lot of problems.
Wookie
I make a point of ringing up. Not only does it let me find out if it's convenient, but it means I can check what parts are being worked and also where things have been seen. hogey
who has to ring to say your going out. with all my farms i dont have to say, just go out. Hi Was on a shoot yesterday were condition of shoot is that we notify police when shooting due to complaints from some locals. While shooting we got a phone call from police telling us they had a complaint from a passing cyclist. As they were on the phone two patrol cars arrived with the police and they came and questioned us. They were very good and had no problem but told us they have to respond to any complaint regarding firearms and had we not called in earlier we would have had the armed response team there. We told them that the cyclist was not permitted on the land and that we had permission from the landowner and were shooting quite legally. They were very understanding and even asked if they called back later could they have some pigeons. I always think it is worth telling the landowner/farmer you are on his land. Dougy
I made it a rule on my permisions to always ring before i go. When i went asking for permision i told them that i would always inform them when i would be going, so if anyone else was on there land shooting they would know it would be somebody without permision and call Mr plod. also they may let you know of any problems they have, for example sheep in this field or moved a horse over to that field and at what time mr Fox is about
Keith
When I got my permission y'day, the farmer was totally relaxed and I think I could have just gone along whenever. When I said that i felt I should let him know when I was shotting, he just said text him or phone him to let him know, so he'd tell people on the farm what was going on and ensure no one else was shooting - he didn't say directly and avoided it when I asked him, but I presume someone else also has permission. chunk
Although i always offer when i get new land, to ring, some just dont want me to. They prefer a known parking spot in the yard, so they know i`m there. They only places that are very specific; one just wants a text, the other i have to ring a rather obnoxious gamekeeper. njc110381
I almost always ring. It's good to have a quick chat to make sure I'm not going to be in the way of any work that's going on. The only time I don't ring is very early in the morning if I take the air rifle out, I just hang a bunny on the tractor on the way back to the van
Roughshot
If Im going to be decoying crows I ring the farmer and tell/ask him when and what field just safer that way but if Im out roughshooting I dont have to ring.
mr lee
We always text the evening before hand to let the farmers know we will be there early morning and then text to let them know we are clear of the land when leaving. One though, we can just turn up the day before, camp over in the van, plug into their electric, have a few beers with them that evening and then catch some sleep in the van. Up at 4am for an early start after a good evenings drinks and gossip. Tis a cracking relationship we have with them.
