pigeon controller
I have been asked why certain officers have the peak on there caps flattened towards the eyes. I tried Google and had no luck other than Queens Regulations on Officers Dress. I’m sure there are correct answers and also “ Squaddies” both would be interesting. Jonty
As said above, it’s to keep your head back - PC if you look up ‘slashed peak’ or variants of it you’ll probably find more info online. Edited June 5, 2022 by Jonty
amateur
When our Met police officer daughter invited us to her passing out parade at Hendon, I was amused to see that the drill sergeant leading the parade wore his standard police cap with a slashed peak, presumably to demonstrate his elite military credentials. TIGHTCHOKE
Whilst searching for "slashed peak" look at "Manchester hat" too.
Walker570
As above our drill sergeant had his slashed but low and betide you if you damaged your own. It was not looked favorably. I did slightly lower mine because the issue ones made you look like a Meter Reader for the local council.

Google only produced loads of references to MUFC baseball caps and Wikipedia to Dentons ("If you want to get ahead, get a hat"). If it was the same one I had there, he had served a considerable time in the guards.
