Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo might have spilled the beans about the duration of Europe's energy crisis. He told reporters Monday, "the next 5 to 10 winters will be difficult."

"The development of the situation is very difficult throughout Europe," De Croo told Belgium broadcaster VRT.

The truth is seeping out... Prepare for at least 10 years of high energy prices....

the Poll Tax was incredibly fair, each adult paid for the services provided.  What’s fairer than that.  It was the fact that those who had paid comparatively little were required to pay more, that was its downfall.    The masses did not like it, but is was fair to all.

The trouble with the poll tax was it was based on the electoral register. So all people had to do to avoid it was not register to vote.

Thousands did just that

....and that was the underlying plan.

Council house tenants didn't pay rates, but predominately voted Labour and could vote in spendthrift councils with no effect on their pocket.

Poll tax was supposed to take some of the burden off the predominately Conservative voting ratepayer.

If the non-paying Labour voters disenfranchised themselves, so be it, win win.

In practice, of course this was deemed to be a dreadful scenario.

Labour hated it because it was their voters that were opting out in large numbers.

It also meant they couldn't have all the false names on the electoral register for postal voting fraud. Which was rife
