Harry, don't buy fixings from the DIY sheds,,,, way too expensive. Screwfix or Toolstation seem your usual to buy from. But there are online fixings suppliers which could be another option. Just shop around 😉

These fixings are obviously for the framework,,,, so you preferably need that type and of different suitable lengths, and make sure they are self drilling, ie have a cutting point, then no pilot hole needed.

https://www.screwfix.com/p/timco-in-dex-8150inh-hex-socket-timber-screws-8-x-150mm-10-pack/2233x

These are more than 10 quid for 10 screws at screwfix those from wicks are 10 quid for 25 and with 10% off were 9 quid. I think I will pre drill the newels that these screws are for.

Those Timco fixings are specialised top of the range, even I wouldn't buy them unless specifically specified !

Take a look at the TimbaScrew range on Screwfix, not too expensive. At the end of the day it's your choice. Keep up the good work 👍

You need to check that the points are self drilling. The spec should highlight that detail. The tips look like a pointed drill bit,,,, so no pilot hole needed. Drilling pilot holes is so laborious, and the drill bits usually snap just when,,,,,,,,, 🤨🤔🤣

It's so much easier to use self drilling fixings 😉

can you tell me what the numbers mean?  I.E.  3.5x50mm. Is 3.5 the diameter and 50mm the length? genuine question.

Exactly that 👍

It won't do one cut 🙄🙄 the blade guard won't allow it to cut. It must only be good enough to cut 2"

Why not do it the old fashioned way,,,, and use a hand saw 🤭🤣

I think that's the favourite 👍👍

Try Travis Perkins - they had a dewalt for £144 - I was thinking about buying one but it is showing as not available for delivery or in local branches - you may have more luck buy you

Very well regarded saw

I only have a limited amount of cuts to make so a hand saw will do the job 👍👍👍
