Another great day...............

...at Prestwold Hall today.  Set as a 100 bird day the Keeper put on a great show for us and some excellent shooting saw a bag of 126 with no overage. A mix of pheasant and partridge with the partridge again being supersonic. No shortage of birds and all looking very healthy.  Met some old friends and made some new ones, which is what a day out on the birds os all about.   I took four birds on the first drive and then everyhting went quiet for me and found myself out of the fun, which is how it goes sometimes. Luck of the draw put me on peg #1 twice which did not give me a single chance but my neighbour on #2 peg 40yrds to my left shot seven.  If you do enough driven days that is how it goes but there is much more to a day than just killing things and the Greyhound Pub laid on an awesome breakfast and then tea and home made cakes after shooting.  So many stories being told it was difficult to get a word in edgeways. I have five more days booked there to look forward to.

doubt I will stand as enjoy being back gun and exercising the mad spaniel who has started to realise what the pile of shooting gear by the book case means !!, Mrs Agriv8 is asking me to ensure I know where my shooting socks, gloves, hat, dog whistle are ( I believe she knows me TOOO well )

A very nice report of what sounded like a brilliant day with good friends and excellent food thrown in for good measure , your luck on drawing the peg number is about the same as mine although you have had many more  days than me to go by .

My boss once invited me as his guest gun on a 200 bird day as a 60th birthday and a retirement present , I started off drawing a good number and the drives we had planed should had put me in the shooting for a good part of the day , note I said should have as for some reason it was going to be one of those days when the birds were well wide going right and left but not overhead , this went on all day and some drives I was on what is normally a decent peg turned out a total blank , at the end of the day I still had several cartridges out of the only box I opened and I dread to think what each shot would have cost me if I had to paid for the day , still we got the bag and it was a day I will never forget and maybe I should hint my 75th birthday is just around the corner

P S    .....  Where about in Norfolk are you shooting ?
