Looks very land rover ish at the back with a silly front end.

16 hours running, but is that on hills, flat roads or proper 4x4, huge difference.

I suspect you'd need to tow a diesel generator around just in case, especially if properly off road.

It will be 16 hours on a rolling road, indoors with no wind etc. and with nothing other than what is necessary running.

My mate who has had a lot to do with cars reckons hydrogen cars might win the race, a little like Betamax video recorders were a must-have only to be well overtaken by VHS back in the day for us that remember and have been around a little while

80kwh battery, claimed 168mpc {2mpkwh compared to 3 to 4mpkwh for road car), 16 hours off road, I assume doing 10mph.....

We need to stop thinking about it in terms of a race a la VHS vs Betamax*

There will be no panacea or silver bullet, it will be mix of technologies, depending on the application - just the same as nobody sane builds petrol-powered HGVs or Formula 1 cars.

So, for local suburban driving, EVs powered by some kind of battery technology will likely have the edge. 

Meanwhile, JCB reckons it can easily adapt its heavy plant to run on hydrogen.  That is to say, it's modifying its diesel engines and it's not especially complicated.  The site 'fuel bowser' is more of a challenge, but apparently they already have one in testing with comparable filling time.

A 4x4 driven by electric motors should have many advantages over ICE and complex transmissions, the challenge is how you power them

Looks like an Ibex body with a different snout to me.

 

*or HD-DVD vs Blu-ray for those of us born after about 1980...Apparently Betamax was technically superior, but cost more to manufacture and had worse marketing.  It's not always the 'best' solution that wins.

That's the word I was looking for, just couldn't remember, Ibex Ibex Ibex, wasn't fussed on them either, couldn't see the point of all that extra money when so many proper landies and landy parts available so much cheaper.
