might be an idea to make a weak dry mix (sand cement)..........then it will suck the moisture out of the ground and stabilise everything ...you dont have to ...but it is something i would do ...

its easy to do ...you are not messing about with water .....just rake and level...

If it's building sand he's giving you, buy sharp sand to add to it as this method needs the grit of the sharp sand for a sound base. The natural dampness of the sand should be enough for your 'mix' so you won't need to add any more. If you do, add sparingly using a watering can with the rose attached 😉
