verminer
See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it.... > We are hitting 99.9p a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying over £1 a litre!!!! > > (This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.) > > BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. > Please read it and join in! > > Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place, not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, if you can avoid it, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! > > Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) . and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it.....THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! > > > Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all (and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!! Acting together we can make a difference If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE. It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso. Cranfield
This old chesnut has been rolling around since before the "fuel strikes". Why penalise Esso and BP, just buy your petrol from the cheapest local outlet and that way your local expensive petrol retailer will suffer. This is a good website to use to find the best local prices, not just for petrol, but diesel as well. http://www.petrolprices.com/

The scheme wouldn't work because petrol stops make most of their money from all the goods they sell in the shop (fags, crisps etc). Add to that the fact that most of the oil comes from a couple of big players anyway.

the last engineer
same old story isn't it, as said this goes round a few times a year, some bright spark figures if everyone stopped gassing up for a few days it'll all work out, B.S. you guys are paying approx a nicker a litre were paying a buck, the states are paying somewhere in the region of 60/70 cents, were all ****** off realy, get the government to drop its taxes that will work wont it ?? of cource the chance's of that happening are as much as boycotting the gas bars working. you want to make a statement, sell your motor and walk. dustyfox
go on this website if everyone joins this we will all get a good deal. http://www.pipelinecard.org/ They are negociating at the moment they want everyone to use one supplier and if they get enough people it may well go through. There are no catches and everything is free. READ the website it will tell you everything.
Cranfield
Before joining the pipelinecard, read the October 2007 announcement. Their campaign to get cardholders a discount on their fuel doesn't seem to have been very successful. Has anyone got cheaper fuel by being a member ? codling99
ive been so tempted with veg oil, been checking prices, and cheapest so far was 65 p per litre, just wonder if it worth it for that amount .
jonevo
Sorry to burst yer bubble mate but Shell and BP all have refinaries, that produce petrol,so going to the supermarket and buying fuel there will really be ineffective. The only way to hurt them in the pocket would be NOT to buy Petrol for a few days Leave the car at home and use public transport. then they might listen BUT I cannot see the LAZY people of this island from doing any of the above. Lord Geordie
do u think petrol may have gone up because smokings been banned Lets face it!! With the people who are now quitting in droves the Government HAVE to think of other places to raise the lost revenue! The ONE soft target they ALWAYS go for is Motorists as they ALWAYS sit on their *** and take all the **** the government dish out when it comes to Taxes Increases in Tax on larger engines (reguardless of the fact SOME 2.0L engines are more economical than some of the new 1.4l engines like the Suzuki 1.4 small car (forget the name now) at about 25 miles per gallon Adding Insurance TAX forever increasing the tax on Petrol putting up revenue er i mean Speed cameras Talking about paying a toll on all motorways it all paints a pretty picture for the government and the picture is a golden chair made of paper mache using tax payers money. tom_0787
Its the goverment that control the cost of petrol. At 95.1 pence a liter, 63.7 pence of that is tax!!! That means the pre inflated price is actually just 31.4p. Whilst i am totally against this outrageous taxing, Gordon Brown is well known for his taxing policys and thats that. If in the next budget they reduced fuel tax, another tax would be increased. I think that smokers should be taxed for tobbacco through the roof to cover some of the cost to the NHS when they need treating for smoking related illness. Smokes cost the NHS £1.7 BILLION a year but thats another rant for another day.

I happen to be a NON smoker and have NEVER smoked but even I can see the smokers ARE paying for the NHS as are the people who like a drink now and then. Taxing smokers any more than they would tax drinkers is unfair if ANYTHING they need to run the government like a big company. When their profits drop they cut jobs and reduce the salary unlike the government who hike it to £100.000 a year and don't stop taking the pee with expenses. The ministers are so pro national minimum wage then THEY should have to work for no more than that also. LG
