Agree in principal but would go for 2 coats of Galvafroid rather than straight zinc paint.

Certainly Galvafroid over Hammerite, unless they’ve changed their formulation in the last 5 or so years. Hammerite chips  like heck in my experience.

Or, as it’s going to get dinged anyway, cheap option is a can of a zinc rich primer and top up when necessary.

Not the easiest stuff to come by these days tbh. Unless you work in a quarry 😂

loads of places sell the stuff...i always used in in the workshop and as carpet thro the landrovers i had

Agreed, but that's sorta the point.  Trailer floors get scratched and dinged all the time, idea is you can 'top up' as and when needed.  Is what I'd do.

If you want to do a proper job, then yes proper sanding/degrease then 2 coats of galvafroid
