oldypigeonpopper
Hello, What is your shooting range Jim ??
wigeon jim
Mainly rabbits out to 100 yds, can’t justify spending a lot of money on a spotter and just wondering if this one would do the job, Edited August 28 by wigeon jim
moongeese
I recently purchased the Hikmicro 4K thermal binoculars , Outstanding value for money. Used to used Pulsar Accolade binoculars, which cost four times as much. If you are passing and want to try them Jim, just give me a message' Bill

Dave-G
It only has a 6mm lens, OK for ratting and pigeons in a barn or possibly even in a yard or small paddock. To be honest I've never used a 6mm germanium lens but think 100 yard rabbits would probably look like specks of dust on the screen. You'll do a lot better with a used larger lens one somebody sells who wants to upgrade. Edited August 28 by Dave-G
Dave-G
There's a barely used 12mm lens one for less than half that for sale on the night vision forum. You'd likely get away wi that - a 100 yard rabbit is likely to be just a poorly distinguished blob - but at least you'd know something is hopping about. Found a video on the tube wi a 6mm lens thermal spotter. More modern one's will be better. Edited August 28 by Dave-G

Dave-G
Be warned - the quest for better imaging is addictive to some. Yer logged in but not saying a lot bud.
oowee
Get an IR spotter or make your own. Cheap as chips and hit the rabbits hard so they don't learn.
wigeon jim
Thanks for the reply’s, mainly wanted for spotting rabbits for my PCP air rifle and pard night vision and HMR .17 , been getting on ok with using a head touch for spotting or a green light on rifle but just wondering how this spotter would work for the price,
oldypigeonpopper
Hello, Someone I know uses his Pard 007 as a spotter but it is mainly fox so he has time to put back on scope, My latest N/V spotter is a Megaorei M5 940nm 35 mm , less than £100, 18650 battery, turned off reticule, Bought a weaver type handle , 100 plus yards clear view at night, only problem is hardly a good diopter setting so i put a magnification lens in the rubber eye piece, This is the same with the Pard 019, saying this Pard now sell a better N/V spotter at £

oldypigeonpopper
Hello, How did you go on a Thermal Jim ?? or other night vision ??
wigeon jim
Spotter on hold for now, was out the other night again using the usual head torch for spotting out to 100yds then switching to pard night vision, worked fine,👍
Dave-G
Can't stand head torches, they attract too many flies buzzing around my face, that annoyance might be due to a slight amount of autism though.
villaman
Thermal is the way to go but min of 30 mm for that distance imo . Thermal is great for daylight as well , specially squirrel shooting

Hello, Same here, but a decent Red rather than white head torch should help with buzzing flies
