Vince Green
Apparently, the stairs and landings of 10 Downing Street are hung with the portraits of all the Prime Ministers who have lived there since 1735 A report this morning in the Guardian (usually pretty reliable) says that Keir Starmer has ordered Margart Thatcher's portrait be taken down and put in a cupboard. Very small minded thing to do, it speaks volumes about the sort of man we are dealing with Edited August 31 by Vince Green
TIGHTCHOKE
I think the portrait in question was in a study he wants to use rather than in the lineup on the famous staircase.
ditchman
Biden had the bust of Churchill removed from view ..i believe......some people are like that as Tighthoke says it was in a seperate office.....im no Maggie Thatcher fan.....but i have seen the potrait and as far as portraits go it is one of the best pictures i have ever seen....and i admit if i was in the office on my own ...the hackle on the back of my neck would rise..... That agrees with what I heard. The staircase has every Prime Minister, with (black and white?) photographs for more recent years. The portrait was in oils and was in one of the rooms (Cabinet Room? Prime Minister's Office/study?). The report I read was that it was being relocated inside No. 10.
enfieldspares
Was that the picture of her fawning over paedophile pervert and rapist Jimmy Saville? Or was it the picture of her one of her cosying up alongside Chilean dictator (and coup leader responsible for overseeing murder and torture of thousands of his own countrymen) Augusto Pinochet? Or also could be the one taken with her Home Secretary Douglas Hurd just after she gave the final approval of his moving of multi-shot pump action and self-loading shotguns from s2 to s1 back in 1988? Wymondley
Nothing like a bit of Thatcher bashing, often done by people too young to have lived through her tenure as prime minister. The only prime minister we've had that would've had the backbone to sort out the mess that this country is in now.

Zoli 12 guage
AND, it's a bit ironic that the picture in question was commissioned by Gordon "let's sell our gold to prop up the Euro" Brown 🙄 2 hours ago, Rem260 said: Or the convicted terrorist Nelson Mandela? would that be the same "convicted terrorist" that was elected president of his own country🤔 ask yourself who convicted him👍

This^^ When I lived for a while in South Wales I got fed up hearing that there were no jobs because Maggie closed all the mines. But most of the mines had already closed before her days in power. The real reason for the mines closing was because British Rail had switched from steam to diesel. As had most of the ships. Welsh coal was used primarily for steam engines. It's sad how demonised her memory has become when in truth she should be honoured Edited August 31 by Vince Green
