Dave-G
Fresh out the oven and waiting to get cold before cutting into chunks for the cake tin. That's when you'll see I departed from the strict recipe by adding cherries for my sweet tooth.

The keen eyed will see I've sprinkled granulated sugar onto about 2/3 of it. The wife doesn't have a sweet tooth and its better than incurring her wrath. Dave-G
All cut up. We've tried two different baking tray sizes now. Talk about her tongue lol... she previously used a small baking tray that made the cake too thick to get it all into one tin because there wasn't enough depth to stack two deep. So I bought a slightly larger baking tray thinking it'd be just right - but now it'll stack two deep but still not all in the one tin because the cake now too shallow and spread out. oldypigeonpopper
Hello, Dave, I am just having a coffee and a piece of your cake would go down well 👍
bruno22rf
Would look nice with Glace Cherries on top and the sugar burned a bit - how much to post a slice?😀.Strong cup of Tea and your cake could be bliss.

Robden
Looks a bit like bread pudding. Not surprising really as they both contain flour and fruit. It's just that the flour in BP is cooked first (bread). 😉

Well done Dave, I too have a sweet tooth, and that’s right up my street 👍 I am partial to any fruit cake, but I particularly like “Bara Brith” which is a type of fruit loaf, served with Welsh salted butter. Dave-G
Yep I usually have a variety of fruit cakes/treats to hand, some home made and some bought in but I'm increasingly becoming wary of bought in cakes/pies etc as margarine is generally used these days rather than butter.
