Flashman
BBC 4’s showing Threads tonight at 10.20. Not shown since 1985, it dramatised a nuclear attack on Sheffield. Frightening realistic, it’s the stuff of nightmares. Well worth a watch.

Agree, saw it when it first came out and a few times, still quite a chilling film, especially as you watch it and recognise all the locations they used for the film. enfieldspares
Traffic wardens. Different uniform on the outside...same obnoxious person underneath it... Although in hindsight Thatcher destroyed and devastated more of Sheffield and its steel industry than the Russkies and their atom bombs never did do. claydodger
The local saying from a previous generation was, Sheffield council did more damage to Sheffield than the Blitz.

I watched it anyway, on iPlayer. I agree. The aftermath would be much worse. The film was made 40 years ago when people were more "tolerant." Today's people seem to be more, 'me, me, me.' Also, the weapons are a lot worse, "powerful." like the vacuum type bombs. If it happens, I hope a bomb lands on my head.
