Shower pump ?.

Hi gang.

I had a new shower pump fitted 3 weeks ago and when i turned the water on nothing happened but when i turned the other

lever on it kicked in after 15 seconds instead of immediately and then turned the other lever it worked until i turned the water

off. Then had to go through the same procedure.  Had another pump fitted today and it is still the same.

Hope this makes sense. So any thoughts on this ?.

                                                                                    Thanks all.

Get i plumber who knows what he is doing

He is the one who fitted my shower in to start with.  Perfect with no problems. The only difference is the 2 new pumps

are the same make but different to the original one. Should not make any difference i would of thought.

Wondering if maybe it has a safety device that lets the cold water run for 15 seconds before the hot comes through to prevent scalding.
Or maybe the opposite, the cold water doesn't come on until the hot reaches a certain temperature to avoid ruining your prospects for the evening?  😆
If the hot and cold supply were fitted the wrong way round you might get weird behaviour.
If you post the make model of the pump we could do some communal research to see if the above is plausible.
Ugh, technology - what was wrong with the tin bath in front of a coal fire anyways..?

Mixer shower? The pump is activated by a flow switch, one for an electric, cold only and two for a mixer, 2 feeds hot and cold, was is an accessible install? The pump kit comes with one flow switch only and they are over 40 quid separate. If accessible then report it to the council.

The install requirements for the pump are very clear in the install handbook. I fit these rooms for my council and have made same mistake myself.

Yup 👍 Is it a completely different type of pump to the original one ? ie, different way of connecting pipes etc.

👍 Have a look on the manufacturer's website to see if they have installation instructions. Although, these should be with the pump ?

Sounds like the new pump is a different design to the old one, or,,,,, could it be something simple like an isolation valve not open properly ?

My thoughts also or possibly air in system.   Try running with the pump switched off  'til a flow occurs then try again with pump.

Yeah, I thought airlock, but that usually creates a knocking sound, and any good plumber would identify that instantly,,,, one should think 🤔

Plumber is popping round Monday afternoon. I will let you all know the outcome. I won't touch anything as i'll probably make it worse.

HI gang.

Plumbers been round and tried several different things and still no joy. He read all the comments on here.

He is now going to ask his supplier and a couple of his plumber mates about the problem.

He also said he may try a different pump. So eventually i will let you know the outcome.
