adzyvilla
Yesterday while I was out brushing I found a few of these out in a field. They were roughly cricket ball sized, blobs of foam. My first thought was cuckoo spit as it had a similar consistency but I've never seen as much in one place and not at this time of year. A few of them had collapsed into the bare earth and left only traces, but most were still like the one pictured. No one on the cart had a clue what they are, so I thought I'd try on here. Anyone got any ideas?

adzyvilla
Just now, ditchman said: i wonder if it is a shortlived fungi............ It really had no substance at all, almost like sea foam. I ran my finger through it and the stuff just collapsed then disappeared.
FAR WELTED
evening, i would guess it is foam from a bout marker on a crop sprayer. if there arnt any tramlines a bout marker would mark the sprayer width when it is spraying. we used that method years ago before we got tramlines and then we got GPS, hope that helps. Minky
I've never heard that term. it's always been called beating. The beaters cart. must be a term from East Anglia region.

A bit like the French. No one follow the French and the French don't follow anyone else. Those Citroen cars.. the DS, GS, Ami 8. 2CV and the vans that were like a corrugated tin sheds on wheels. The suspension systems and the brakes. Those French Gaulose fags OH and GARLIC Ugh.
