I don't mind a nice pie with some chips , gravy yes if I fancied it , but curry sauce no thanks , they used to do nice little meat pies on the market place , what was in them ? , god above knows and no one really cared , but you could get a portion of chips , one of these pies and if you had enough room on the paper you could get a dollop of mushy peas from the same stall as the pie , all in all a decent meal that certainly wouldn't had made a hole in your pocket .     MM

You can make very good individual sized pies with "Jus-Roll" pastry (ready rolled from the supermarket chilled section) and either a 'pie machine' or split cases like this shown.  Put in whatever filling you like.  I make minced beef and onion, pheasant in gravy, chicken and mushroom, checken and leek, chicken and bacon (or a mixed of the chicken additions), lots of options.  This size fits in an individual 'Lock & Lock' tub type box as photo to freeze.

We certainly see some very nice meals on this section , the only item I would leave is the garlic mushroom , I don't mind the field mushrooms but not that keen on garlic , the rest would be consumed and it should leave me a bit of room for my Apple pie and custard .:good:

It's no problem to leave out the garlic.  I just put a bit of butter, salt and pepper on the (whole) mushroom and cook on a tray with the chips in the oven.

Ah , that sound lovely , I thought you bought a tray of Garlic mushrooms like my wife used to buy . I often buy a carton of the button mushrooms and sometimes slice a few up and then beat a couple of eggs and put the whole lot into a pan along with anything that need using up like a bit of cheese , bacon or onions .   MM

Flat mushroom (they come in packs of 3 or 4), put on a tray (I use a sheet of baking paper on the tray as it saves washing up), stalk up, couple of little blobs of butter around the stalk and a bit of salt and pepper.  Pop in the oven for 10 or 15 minutes at 180C, or longer if you like them well done.  One nice easy mushroom accompaniment.  Nice with a pie, bacon, sausages or chicken.

Far from it.  The pie is a 'supermarket' staple and oven chips.  The veg were all home done (albeit the red cabbage was a portion I froze a while ago).  The gravy was Bisto Best Onion, with a fried to light brown shallot added.  It was nice and filling on a cold evening though.

Standard older i-Phone camera, Formica fake wood kitchen table as background!
